1840 1d. black, Plate 4, BLOCK OF NINE (GI/IK), mounted mint with almost full original gum, large margins, exceptional colour, lightly toned at the left, HI has a small natural paper impurity, still fine. AN IMPRESSIVE MINT BLOCK. ONE OF THE LARGEST MULTIPLES OF THIS PLATE. Two B.P.A. certificates (1956 and 1996) (Ex-Lord Steinberg collection).
