Shreves Philatelic Galleries, Inc. Sale - 72

The September 2005 Collector's Series Sale - September 30 - October 1st, 2005

Shreves September 2005 Collector's Series Sale is filled with a wonderful array of both United States and Worldwide postage stamps and postal history. Featured in this particularly valuable and comprehensive sale (over 1,400 lots) are several exciting specialized collections formed by well-known philatelists.

The United States portion of the auction contains hundreds of premium quality mint and used U.S. stamps - the vast majority with certificates - exactly the kind of material serious collectors have come to expect to see in a Shreves auction.

Among the specialized U.S. offerings are the Thomas Droege Collection of 1893 Columbian Exposition postal history; the Gary Sumers collection of Important Classic and Modern Errors; the Jack M. Vorhies Collection of Revenue Stamped Paper Essays and Proofs - the most definitive collection of its kind; and the "Kauku Kimo" Collection of Hawaiian Postage Stamps.

The Worldwide offerings in the auction are among the strongest we have had the pleasure to offer in quite some time. The "Shanghai" Collection of Early China Postage Stamps, 1878-1949, contains some of the rarest stamps to appear at auction in the U.S. in years - all from a collection formed in China many years ago. The Gary Sumers Collection of the Postage Stamps of Japan contains an excellent array of seldom seen stamps in premium quality. Additional exceptional foreign offerings include a "perfectionist's" collection of gem quality mint Canadian stamps, plus there is an unusually strong collection of New Britain stamps, including several rarities.
