1662 og 249 var. image#249 var., 1926 1c Orange, second Peking design, experimental printing on German web watermarked paper, well centered single with full o.g., lightly hinged, very fine; various papers were being tried during this time period and Dr. Ma lists papers from England, Canada and France that were used for the second Peking printing, this value and the 4c Olive green were experimentally printed on watermarked paper of the period from Germany, this was rejected and only a very few of these two values became available to collectors, extremely rare; noted but unlisted in Scott (Chan #250E). 1664 nhbl 349-63 image#349-63, 1939-41, 1c-$20.00 Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Ty. III cplt. in mint blocks of four, includes extra blocks for nearly all the values that were issued with both comb and line perforations, including extra blocks of all the dollar values except the $20.00, which was only issued in comb perforation, o.g., n.h. though several values with patchy natural gum skips typical of these wartime printings, crease to one $5.00 block affecting two stamps, otherwise very fine; a nice set and an excellent way to display these perforation varieties as blocks show the difference much better than singles (Chan #371-85, 371a, 381-84a; $625.00 for hinged). 1665 og 383 var-85 var., 397 var. image#383 var.-85var., 397 var., 400 var. 401 var., 1944 8c-$20.00 Sun Yat-sen, Hong Kong Dah Tung printing, perf. 12 1/2 cplt., the only six values that are known with this perforation, typical wartime gum that ranges from dull to shiny, fine-very fine; these were issued under Japanese occupation and perforated 12 1/2 by the Chung Hwa Book Co., virtually all of these stamps were given Japanese occupation overprints or after the war with National Currency overprints, they were not regularly issued unoverprinted and only a very few stamps came into collector's hands; noted but not listed in Scott; each signed S.C. 1666 E 471E image#471E, 1941 Thrift Movement souvenir sheet, perforated essay, stamps contained in the sheet are the same as the issued set and souvenir sheet, however the stamps are arranged in a different order and much closer together, same red inscription at top, but blue three line inscription at bottom including "printed by Chung Hwa Book Co. Ltd.", without gum as issued, pinhole at extreme top selvage which may have been used for alignment of printing and natural wrinkle in the extreme bottom selvage, very fine and incredibly rare; the collector noted that it was believed that only six examples are known (Chan #MS1E).
