1642 ng 121 var. image#121 var. 1906 $2.00 Brown red and yellow, re-entry, an exceptionally handsome unused example of this rare re-entry position, truly impressive being well centered with huge lavish margins, plus exceptionally deep strong colors and highly detailed impressions that show this re-entry most clearly in the top right tablet in the Chinese character for two, but elsewhere on the stamp as well, extremely fine; a rare variety with great eye appeal (Chan #127a). 1643 og 134-37 image#134-37, 1912 3c-$5.00 Foochow "Provisional Neutrality" overprints, the four issued values complete mint, rich colors, the 3c Slate Green low value has fine centering and light vertical crease, the three dollar values are exceptionally fresh and attractive, part dulled o.g., h.r., very fine-extremely fine; upon the founding of the Republic of China the Postal Department ordered that the current postage stamps be overprinted "Provisional Neutrality" apparently to indicate that the postal system was being conducted neutrally between the still sometimes warring factions, these were sent to the Foochow post office but immediately came under criticism from the government that the wording was inappropriate and incorrect and were recalled to Shanghai for revision, though all fifteen values were printed, only these four values were actually sold, records show that only 96 each of the $1.00 and $2.00 values and 280 stamps of the $5.00 were sold, this set of four is a very presentable and handsome example of the these early Republic rarities (Chan #140-41; $7,790.00). 1644 og Chan #PN1-11 imageChan #PN1-11, 1912 1/2c-50c Foochow "Provisional Neutrality" overprints, unissued values cplt., an especially attractive set of the eleven values that were printed and never actually sold before the issue was recalled and revised, overall very well centered, bright strong colors, all with o.g. though some with only part or dulled gum, fine to nearly all very fine or better; after all neutrality overprints were withdrawn from sale they were held in post office archives, occasionally they were given to friendly foreign nationals or government officials and thus have become available to collectors in very limited quantities; of the greatest rarity and virtually never seen at auction nor found in the most advanced collections; listed but unpriced in Chan. 1645 og 138-45 image#138-45, 1912 1c-$5.00 Nanking "Provisional Neutrality" overprints of the eight values complete mint that were actually sold at Nanking and two other post offices, attractive set with rich colors, overall quite well centered, gum ranges from full o.g. to disturbed part o.g., h.r., trace of perf. toning on the 16c and one other low value, fine-very fine; upon the return of the Foochow "Provisional Neutrality" overprints these same stamps were again overprinted with four characters vertically reading "Republic of China" forming a cross with the neutrality overprint, these went on sale in Hankow, Nanking and Changsha, the most actually being sold in Hankow rather than Nanking, however a total of only these eight values out of the fifteen were actually sold at any of these post offices before they were again criticized and withdrawn from sale, records indicate that numbers sold ranged from as high as 2,818 of the standard 3c value to as low as (imagea) (imageb) (Image) $13,315.00

1657 S image1915 5c-50c Hung Shian commemoratives, three values overprint "Specimen", strong bright colors, without gum, very fine; in 1915 President Yuan Shi Kai tried to overthrow the republic and declare himself emperor, a set of eight stamps were issued to commemorate his "Hung Shian" reign, this scheme came to an untimely end and the stamps were destroyed except for a few of just three values that were overprinted and sent to the district post offices for informational purposes; extremely rare and seldom seen.
