1563 O 8a var. image#8a var., 1883 3ca Vermilion, thick paper with clean cut perforations, semi-circle at right of left "3", cliche 4, magnificent used single of this scarce plate variety, wonderfully well centered and beautifully complimented by perfectly struck central black Cheefoo seal cancel, plus crisp even perforations all around, the color is equally impressive being in the scarcer brilliant vermilion shade, extremely fine gem; this unusual plate variety occurred in cliche 4 for a short time between the late clean cut perforation and the early rough perforation printings, then was apparently noticed and corrected making for a particular rare variety, especially so in such premium quality; a stamp with great eye appeal (Chan #8bc). 1569 ngog 1/9 #1/9, 1878-83 1ca-5ca Large Dragons, nice selection of twenty mint or unused examples of these first issues, most are the 1878 thin paper printings with an excellent range of shades, especially of the 1ca and 5ca with five of the former and four of the latter, 1ca with wide margins is the only value representing that issue, plus all three values on thick paper with clean cut perforations and a 1ca and 3ca with rough perforations, all are quite attractive, flaws where present are quite minor, gum ranges from several without gum to some with full o.g., overall a fine-very fine assemblage (Chan #1/11; $10,185.00). $6,050.00

1570 O 1/9 image#1/9, 1878-83 1ca-5ca Large Dragons, small collection of fifteen used examples, includes all the different issues except 3ca on thin paper and the 5ca on thick paper with clean cut perforations, but does include the 1882 wide margined issue including the scarce 5ca on pelure paper, includes a variety of different cancels, shades and a few varieties including cliche 25 of the 3ca thick paper with clean cut perforations showing no bar in the "H" of "China" (Chan #8f), condition varies with a few small faults present, most are fine-very fine and attractive (Chan #1/12; $3,965.00). 1574 ogbl 16-24 image#16-24, 1894 1ca-24ca Dowager, first printing cplt, remarkably handsome set of blocks of four, over half with interpanneau or sheet margins, the 9ca being a top right corner block, each block with unusually bright fresh color, centering is exceptional throughout except the 24ca is centered a bit to right, the original gum is especially clean and nice, often two stamps are never hinged, a very faint crease affects one pair in the high values, not at all detracting from the attractiveness of this seldom seen set of blocks, otherwise mostly very fine (Chan #22-30; $2,886.00).
