1286 c Exposition post card collection of over 225 mint or used cards relating to the fairs and expositions from 1893 to 1915, includes a few local fairs but the majority are from expositions for which stamps were issued and many franked with those stamps, we note several exposition cancels including machine and duplex cancels for the 1893 Columbian Exposition on multicolor postal cards, similar duplex exposition cancel on Trans-Mississippi postal cards, plus twelve exposition station cancels on cards for later fairs, many cards are the attractive special multicolor view cards issued especially for the expositions, we note 70 cards from the 1904 St. Louis Fair, over 30 for the Jamestown Exposition and 70 cards for the combined Panama-Pacific and Panama-California Expositions, condition varies but the majority are fine-very fine and a nice selection of these. 1289 c Train and streetcar post card collection with a total of over 675 mint or used view cards, nearly 400 of those relate to trains showing locomotives and various cars, views of trains through the mountains or over bridges, many interesting scenes are present, includes a few rail stations, the rest of over 275 have to do with street cars starting with those that were pulled on rails by horses or mules, then self powered, this includes cable cars up mountain sides, etc., it is amazing how many smaller towns had street cars in the early days as well as the large cities which have always supplied mass transit, condition mixed but generally fine-very fine and a nice collection for the train enthusiast. 1290 c U.S. Territorial post card collection, a very substantial collection of over 850 mint or used view cards from territories of the United States that were still in existence during the post card period, these include interesting views of areas of the southwestern United States including Arizona with 187 view cards, New Mexico (149) Oklahoma (45) and 27 post cards from the Indian Territory plus another 40 covers and postal cards with Indian Territory cancels, many of the cards from these earlier territories have town cancellations which were used to determine that they are territorial period, some mint cards may not have intrinsic evidence of the territorial period but all are certainly close, there are 80 view cards of Alaska including some early cards showing dog teams, totem poles and Eskimos, some are used in an early period including cancels of Fort Liscum, Metlakatla, Mantanuske and others of the more common cities, Hawaii is represented by a lovely selection of over 300 mint or used view cards of that very beautiful territory and its people, finally 41 cards from the Philippines and 20 from Canal Zone, condition varies but the vast majority are fine-very fine; a valuable and worthwhile collection for both the post card collector and the collector of territorial postal markings, examine. 1291 c imagePost card collection of what the collector identified as rare and expensive cards, it might be better described as unusual cards and the ones that he was particularly attracted to, but there are over 275 view cards of a more desirable and eclectic nature including sports cards featuring pictures of early local baseball teams and a series of six humorous cards with a baseball theme, other types of cards include bicycles, autos, steam engine tractors, San Francisco earthquake, various patriotic cards including those with famous people, some presidential items, including a 1909 actual photo card of President "Teddy" Roosevelt with his neighbors at Oyster Bay taken by photographer W. 1292 c Substantial balance of extensive post card collection consisting of over 1,400 mint or used post cards with a wide range of views and topics, over 400 deal with various types of transportation usually by animal power including all manner of carriages drawn by horses and more exotic animals from around the world, there is a volume with over 200 military uniforms of the United States and Europe with some nice series, plus some items featuring world leaders including Presidents of the United States, many in attractive colors, another 250 cards are high quality multicolor Tucks cards with both scenic and greeting designs, there are 190 cards that are quality greeting cards including better Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day and Christmas cards with Santa Clauses present, and finally there are over 280 post cards collected for their commemorative or unusual franking, which is not to say that the cards are ordinary because many are desirable and very collectible in their own right, in addition to the post cards there a number of unused and used postal cards, often with printed advertising, plus other paper collectibles, condition is varied as would be expected on such a voluminous collection but the vast majority are fine-very fine and quite desirable. 1293 c Extensive used post card collection, collected for the cancels used on the cards even though there are many very attractive and diverse post cards that could be collected for the views that are on the cards, the collection consists of over 600 view cards of which nearly 450 have railroad cancels of various types, mostly "RPO" cancels but also including some clerk cancels and even some street car cancels, another section of over 140 post cards have ship cancels of various types, many from naval vessels including some from foreign ports, additionally there are over 50 covers with ship makings including several 19th century covers with circular "N.Y Steamship" datestamps originating in France and Cuba, finally there are over 35 post cards with RFD cancels, most are the scarce manuscript markings applied by the rural delivery man when he was delivering the card to someone on the same rural route, condition varies but many are fine-very fine and needs to be examined for the many desirable cards as well as the markings.
