The philatelic world has lost a giant, we mourn the death of Bob Dumaine. Bob loved everything about stamps and stamp collecting. His influence, creativity, and knowledge will be sorely missed. I especially remember his activity in 1992 to create standards for Stamp Auction houses. We were just getting started writing auction software in 1990 and would create StampAuctionNetwork in 1994, so that was all vivid in my memory. Read the full obituary (here).

Graham Beck, from the Youtube video channel, "Exploring Stamps" does an amazing job introducing the next generation to Philately. His latest video looks at the United States "Cattle in the Storm" to ask the question... "Is this the most Beatiful U.S. Stamp"?

Let's show Graham some love and visit his site and take a listen. In the video he mentions Canada's "Bluenose" as a contender for the most Beautiful stamp of all -- so in my video we will look at both stamps.

Thanks again to all our auction sponsors who made generous donations of stamps and covers for the auction, and to our collector friends who also made contributions. • Cherrystone Auctions The Maitland Collection of U.S. Stamps - October 29, 2024 Welcome to the Maitland Collection of the United States. The focus is on items typically missing from conventional collections, most notably Re-Issues, Special Printings, rare Coils, Postage Dues and of course the Inverted Jenny (see the Maitland Collection of Inverted Centers, which takes place on October 30th).

  • Cherrystone Auctions The Maitland Collection of Inverted Centers of the World - October 30, 2024 Inverted Centers are often called the Aristocrats of Philatelic Errors. In fact, nothing quite strikes the imagination among stamp collectors like Inverted Centers. Aside from the upside down appearance, there is almost always a story and in many cases a "legend" to be told. How, where, when, how many and by whom was it discovered? Are there additional copies lurking in an attic somewhere, waiting to be found? Philatelists young and old never abandon hope of one day discovering such an error themselves.
