Cherrystone Auctions Sale - 0626A

Confederate Stamps and Postal History - June 9, 2026

The Confederate States Stamps and Postal History sale will be offered at public auction in our Teaneck, NJ galleries and over the internet via CherrystoneLIVE on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The first session, beginning at 10:00 AM Eastern, presents the first 105 lots, highlighted by the unique and newly Scott-listed Salem, Mississippi Postmaster’s Provisional – one of the most important new discoveries in Confederate philately in recent decades. The second session, beginning at 1:00 PM Eastern, continues with lots 106–275. Throughout both sessions, Cherrystone Auctions is proud to present material from The Thomas Ross Collection of Confederate States, the culmination of nearly four decades of focused collecting and study. The sale presents a broad and thoughtfully assembled offering of Confederate philately, including Independent State usages, Confederate Postmasters’ Provisionals, stampless covers, and Regular Issue Confederate stamped postal history. Numerous rare and desirable usages are represented throughout, alongside important rates, routes, and markings illustrating the development, challenges, and improvisation of the Confederate postal system during the Civil War. Together, these offerings reflect both the enduring scholarship of advanced Confederate collectors and the continuing potential for important new discoveries within this fascinating field of American philately.
