Schuyler J. Rumsey Philatelic Auctions Sale - 134

The Boston 2026 World Expo Auction - 134 - May 26-27, 2026

Welcome to the Boston 2026 World Expo Auction - an exceptional offering showcasing a rich and diverse array of world stamps and postal history. This sale is filled with remarkable material across all areas of collecting, and while highlights are plentiful, a few truly stand out.

Western covers are superbly represented, led by a magnificent Pony Express cover (Lot 2015). Among the town postmarks, collectors will find some of the finest fancy cancellations known, including the striking Little Rock, Arkansas shield postmark (Lot 2034) and the beautifully decorative Kissing Doves of Newark Valley, New York (Lot 2065).

The sale also features an outstanding selection of Presidential Free Franks, including rare examples from 20th-century presidents, alongside an extensive offering of Cameo Advertising covers in gem condition. Valentine covers are another highlight, with a particularly extraordinary piece franked by two 5¢ 1847 issues (Lot 2176).

Specialized collectors will appreciate the rare group of precancels, notably the Cumberland, Maine precancel tying a 1¢ 1857 issue on cover (Lot 2223), as well as the scarce 1¢ Franklin, Rotary Press, Perf. 11 (Lot 2250). The regular issues are rich with high-quality examples throughout, anchored by the superb 1847 10¢ bisect (Lot 2274).

Rounding out the sale is a fine and seldom-seen selection of rare postal cards and forerunners, along with an impressive foreign section offering a wide variety of items in outstanding condition.

This is a sale not to be missed - whether you are a seasoned collector or a discerning newcomer, there is something here to inspire and excite.
