"86" Dragon Supreme Stamp Auction - October 12, 2024

New York: Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, starting at 2:00 A.M. (02:00)

Kelleher & Rogers is honored to present the “86” Dragon, perhaps the finest array of Chinese rarities ever brought together in a single sale. Though small in size, the auction abounds with the most sought-after items from each philatelic period, from an Elephant Essay pair, Large Dragon Proofs along with 1ca, 3ca and 5ca imperforate-between pairs, Red Revenue errors, all Four Treasures of the Republic, and on to withdrawn PRC issues such as the 1958 “Soviet” issue in the only known blocks of four, perhaps the finest known example of the 1968 “Great Victory of the Cultural Revolution” as a corner margin single, and much more besides. A simply exquisite treasury sure to thrill and delight. (For a more learned introduction to this sale, please see the introduction in our printed catalogue—also available as a PDF below.)
