1897, Large Figures narrow surcharges on Dowager, 3rd printing, ½c on 3ca pale chrome-yellow, inverted surcharge (Chan
74g. Scott 65a), with interpane margin at foot, outstanding centering, mint, original gum, stamp never hinged, hinged in margin only, Very Fine
The pale color of the stamp, which makes the design difficult to see, provides a logical
explanation as to how the sheets could be placed upside down for surcharging. Probably two sheets comprised of eight panes—160 stamps—were surcharged with this error.
