Rasdale Stamp Company Sale - 468

Worldwide Public Auction - October 17-18, 2026

It is with mixed emotions that the intro for our 468th auction is written. First, a brief history that some of you know but many don’t. Our grandfather started running auctions in 1932 until he passed in 1958. At that time, our uncles, Jim and Dick, continued running the auction out of Michigan until 1968 when they then moved the operations to downtown Chicago.

After 21 years of Kevin working under their mentorship the business was moved to Westmont, at which time Kristin joined. This turned out to be a wise decision as the physical size of the auctions grew to where we need all 7,700 square feet of our office space. We are proud to be the oldest family owned and operated stamp company in the United States. It has been a fabulous run. We have dealt with many wonderful people over the 94 years. It is because of these people that Rasdale Stamp Company has had the honor of serving the philatelic community for so long. But all good things must come to an end.

This is our last auction, and boy is it a doozy. There are 2599 lots from well over 100 consignors which includes Mark Reasoner’s show stock 45 years in the making identified as the “Buckeye holding”.

The auction begins with numerous postage lots and many desirable U.S. collection/accumulation lots several of which are starting over $1,000.00. Next, you will find numerous strong country collections as well as the mixed-up box lots for those who like sorting and treasure hunting. Also, of note are the more than 200 cover lots offered as single covers or collection. The coin and currency section contains many noteworthy silver groupings. Lastly, the miscellaneous collectable section should not be overlooked which includes many scarce baseball cards.

The singles section should please almost everyone’s taste and budget. The starting bids range from $26.00 into the thousands. The U.S. section has almost 500 lots with notable Ducks. The foreign section includes among other areas nice British, French and Italian colonies, China (70 lots), France (67 lots), Germany (56 lots) and Italy (51 lots).

As always, we will get the lots out to the winning bidders as quickly as possible. However, please be patient as it may take us longer than in the past due the auction’s size. We will continue operations in our current offices until the end of December. At that time, Kristin, who runs the day-to-day operations, is retiring.
