42 ^ imageU.S. Philatelic Masterpiece. Fourteen-volume collection of stamps and souvenir sheets, 1845 to 2000. Ninety-nine percent used. Assembled by a career Air Force officer and decorated U.S. Vietnam War veteran who made it his mission to acquire topnotch examples of used U.S. classics and modern stamps. All material is carefully and accurately mounted onto quadrille pages, identified, and housed in White Ace binders. Occasional minor imperfections noted, but otherwise condition is F-VF throughout, with classic philatelic gems sparkling on each page. Used highlights include one of the 1845 New York Provisional Issues; Scott #1 and #2; an outstanding representation of 1851 to 1861 General Issues; a strong showing of stamps from the 1861 to 1862 Second Issues; an Andrew Jackson two-cent Black Jack diagonal (upper right half) used alone to pay the one-cent rate; several C., D., Z., E., F., and G. Grill and No Grill stamps; examples of most of the stamps printed by the National Bank Note Co., the Continental Bank Note Co., and the American Bank Note Co., 1870 to 1888; the 1893 Columbian Exposition Issue, one cent to five dollar, complete; regular issues, 1894 to 1898; the Trans-Mississippi Exposition Issue, one cent to two dollar, complete; the Pan-American Exposition Issue, complete; numerous complete or almost complete sets of definitives and commemoratives, post-1900 to 2000; pages of Washington-Franklin singles, sets, blocks, imperforate material, plate number singles, coil pairs, etc.; a Battle of White Plains Souvenir Sheet; Kansas-Nebraska overprints; C1-C6; a complete set of the Graf Zeppelin Issue; complete or almost complete runs of Special Delivery, Special Handling, Parcel Post, and Parcel Post Postage Due stamps. Especially noteworthy are the many used blocks of four and plate blocks for most time periods--often difficult to acquire. Thirty-four certificates are included for your consideration.
