4866 ogO   FRENCH COLONIES "A-Z" COLLECTION.

A very diverse range of material from the classics to the modern era, mint and used, housed in 11 volumes with many 1000s of stamps and hardly any duplication. This runs the gamut from the 19th century onwards including post offices abroad, even Memel and French Occupation of Germany post-WWII,  ,and the value adds up quickly. The French Africa is probably the best with highlights such as French Congo with 1891 5cts on 25cts used (#5), 'peace and commerce' to 50cts mint (#31), 1903 5cts on 30cts used (#52), etc, then Gabon 1924/27 complete mint with all the franc values never hinged, French Somali Coast with a useful range of imperfs, Alexandrette, Morocco through to postage dues and parcel posts, Syria with OMF o/ps in blocks of four, #C1 pair, Tunisia, etc. Also seen are dozens of modern French Polynesian series mint never hinged all one of a kind, Reunion inc. 5cts on 30cts and 10cts on 40cts imperf 'peace and commerce' types, both used, followed by 'France Libre' o/ps, as well as parcel post 10cts 'liberty' with neat cds cancel. The St. Pierre and the early o/ps on 'peace and commerce', leading on to interesting French India, French Post Offices in China inc. Canton, Hoi Hao, Kouang-Tcheou, Pakhoi, Yunnansen, Yunnanfou, Indo-Chine with 1918 surcharges on orphans to 5fr+5fr complete on cover (#B8/B13), etc, Post Offices in , Turkey including 19th century plus Cilicia inc. 'postes par avion' o/ps with #C1  ,(no cert)  ,and others by favor,  ,please see note in Scott and make your own decisions on these. 4867 ogO   FRENCH COLONIES CLASSIC / MODERN COLLECTION.

A very interesting range of material housed in 5 substantial volumes, representing purchases made in auction and collections as well as stocks. There are 2 green Scott Nationals, 2 thick stock books and 1 very large homemade album. There are many 1000s of stamps here from the 19th century onwards with the collections being all one of a kind and the stocks often mint with minor duplication (nothing in excess) and much being never hinged. There is some non Scott listed material in the form of inter-panneau pairs to higher values and the two areas represented in the stocks are in-depth New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna, with the New Caledonia from imperf, as well as a range of surcharges and overprints including the 1892/93 issues in attractive and wonderfully fresh never hinged horizontal strips of four (cat. $680 for hinged), followed by lots of peace and commerce to 1fr mint and used, etc. The two Scott Nationals are virtually al 20th century starting off with Algeria with few empty spaces, Cameroons, Chad, through to Tunisia, Upper Volta, etc. with many useful complete mint series, ending with some 19th century in the general issues for the Colonies from eagles onwards. The third album has many hundreds of stamps again all one of a kind through to the modern era. Probably the stocks have the most potential, however overall this will keep a dealer very busy, with much more here than described.

4868 ogO   FRENCH COLONIES OMNIBUS ISSUE THROUGH 1960s.

2 large volumes with many 100s of stamps with the overwhelming majority mint and in complete series. A very attractive range, as there are key omnibus issues here, mint never hinged often the better ones. Unfortunately, some of the material has been stored badly and some of the stamps are sticking to the pages (and this of course is difficult to quantify due to risks involved). Nevertheless, a very good range of material with highlights such as Ballay 1906/07 (Scott #21 to #36) to 5fr complete with the 2fr and 5fr mint never hinged, Upper Senegal-Niger Ballay complete, this time concentric circle superb used, (Scott #1 to #17), French Guinea Ballay mint complete (Scott #33 to #47), with the franc values almost imperceptibly hinged, Dahomey again with the Ballay complete (Scott #17) to (Scott #31), 5fr very lightly hinged, some values have minor faults, Mauritania Ballay with the 5fr mint never hinged #1 to #17, Senegal Ballay with the high values again mint never hinged, (Scott #57 to #72). Then more of the same with minor duplication, followed by other good areas include the 'Secours' series countries such as Ivory Coast, French Guinea, Togo, Senegal, Niger, Mauritania, again often mint never hinged. Other extensive omnibus issues such as Paris Exposition of 1931, similarly 1937 with the accompanying 'Arts et Techniques' miniature sheets, Madame Curie, Rene Caillie, New York Exposition 1939 and much more running through the 1940s WW2, free French Colony and those under Vichy regime through to the 1940s, followed by a good range 1950s and 1960s with virtually every omnibus here represented - however as suggested much patience required because of the storage. Overall a great lot with huge potential, offered intact as received.

4869 ogO   FRENCH COLONIES CRAMMED IN A STOCK BOOK. A very substantial stockbook from the classics to modern with virtually every French territory/colony present including Ivory Coast, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, St Pierre, French Post Offices abroad, etc etc. Occasional better modern sets in what is a 64 page stockbook for the most part crammed with material &lsquo, stamp on stamp&rsquo, - a quick guestimate would suggest that there must be 10,000 stamps here or more, with minor duplication, all completely uncatologed. Definitely a money maker for a dealer if worked on, this is the key to this lot, no rarities seen by us however on our first inspection, nevertheless potential postmark and varieties galore for sure &ndash, strictly for stamp workaholics. 1,000-1,500

4870 ogO   FRENCH COLONIES, PACIFIC AND INDIAN OCEAN ONLY,

Several 100s probably more housed in 2 home-made albums with collections within collections, not making a particularly easy viewing. Nevertheless if you persevere, there are many items to bring to light and eventually re-present, as the pages are often uneven and messy. In Indian Ocean area, there are better various modern Comoro Islands complete series, mint never hinged including earlier airmails, French India strong with a good number of France Libre o/ps, as well as fanon and caches new denominations currency o/ps, as well high values to 5rp, definitely better material here with lots of high values well worth investigating, etc. The Pacific Ocean area album  ,again a very similar presentation starts off with French Polynesia from 1913 onwards with various colorful series thru to the early to mid 1960s, as well as a useful range of further mint series of the 1970s/80s thru to airmails etc. Then a similar pattern with New Caledonia, Reunion with classics to investigate thru to the France Libre o/ps, semi-postals and airmails ending with quite comprehensive Wallis and Futuna with various early defins and lots of modern series and se-tenants, m/s, as well as other solid &lsquo, back of the book&rsquo, etc. The collection definitely deserves careful inspection, page for page, ,much more here than described.

4880 ogO   GERMAN STATES PHENOMENAL REFERENCE COLLECTION AS COLLECTED IN THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY,

At first inspection, you will see what a great collection this is with many examples of repaired as well as reprinted German States, in an extraordinary reference collection including genuine with almost 1000 stamps, housed in a large oblong very old fashioned album. There is much of interest here, beginning with Thurn and Taxis with 30kr orange, then Bavaria starting off with 8 examples of the #1, of which one is genuine, two appear to be Speratis, the others possibly including one further genuine and then the balance made by various others in what is a very interesting group, through to Bremen with over 160 both imperf and perf, mint and used, seemingly intact - some German States are remaindered -  ,followed by an excellent range of Brunswick horses over two pages, extensive Hamburg including imperf multiples, attractive cds examples on the perf issues, Hannover, Lubeck, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Oldenburg, Saxony with fourteen of the 10gr blue top value, Schleswig first issues, even some German Colonies inc. POs in China, etc, etc. A wonderful vintage collection with enormous potential for the dealer or collector of the German States classics. This is very much an old time reference collection, probably assembled between 1920 and 1940.

Collection of 1000s in a specialised Safe hingeless album, with hardly any empty spaces from the ,19th ,century onwards, including many scarce items in far better condition than normally encountered. Highlights in the ,19th century include 1872 small shield eagles with 1/4gr violet (#1) and 5gr bister (#6), as well as very attractive superb examples of the 2kr orange in different shades including two red orange issues (#8a). Then the 1872 numerals both with manuscript cancels (#12/13), followed by large shield eagles including the very scarce 18kr bister with light crease in extreme corner mentioned for accuracy's sake only (#26, cat. $1750), plus the surcharges with the elusive 9kr on 9kr brown (#28) which we note has a catalog &euro,600 in Michel, etc. The ,20th century continues strongly, starting off with the Reichspost Germanias complete to 5mk, 1905 Baden officials inc. 2pf and 25pf (#OL16, OL21), comprehensive inflations with the majority if not all appearing contemporaneously used and good Weimar Republic, 1928 and 1929 Nothilfe semi-postals complete (#B23/B32), etc, leading on to the Third Reich with virtually everything present inc. Wagner complete (#B49/B57) and the souvenir sheets inc. Ostropa (#B68, brittle left hand corner broken) and a magnificent example of the rare 1933 Nothilfe souvenir sheet (Scott #B58, Michel Block 2, this alone cats &euro,13,000) genuine postally used, seldom seen as such, showing cancels of Berlin ,7th December 1933 and towards the corner the arrival postmark of Eisenberg, Thü,ringen on ,8th December 1933 &ndash, although there is some slight yellowing in the upper left hand corner this does not detract at all from the outstanding overall quality &ndash, this is one of the best of this m/s we have ever had the pleasure to offer. Other better items through the collection include zeppelins with Chicago flight superb used complete (#C43/C45), etc. A phenomenal collector's collection with lots of scarce to rare items.

4884 nh   GERMANY THIRD REICH INTACT HOLDING.

An excellent range of material housed in five volumes, distinguished by plenty of 'key' items present, for example the 1938 emblem officials with three full sheets of 100 of the 8pf (Mi#149, cat. &euro,30 each) and a sheet of the key 12pf red (Mi#150, cat. &euro,55 each), then the watermarked swastika officials of 1934 with the 12pf red (Mi#138 cat. &euro,15 each). In fact we have taken everything as the cheapest possible shade and there is considerable potential on some of these issues, for example the 1942 8pf purple swastika which we have presumed to cat 80 cents each instead of &euro,9.50 or &euro,85 for the other shades. , The holding is also completely unchecked for the constant plate varieties listed in Michel - there will be no doubt many discoveries to be made here as well. The one volume for the officials alone catalogs almost &euro,40,000 (occasional faults uncounted) and the total catalog including Hitler definitive sheets to 5rm, as well as various German occupations WWII will probably be nearer &euro,60,000+ with everything that is cataloged being in mint never hinged condition. An extraordinary holding recently unearthed, hardly seen in America or even Germany today, as most have been split up by dealers over the decades. An excellent opportunity for a dealer, offered intact as received.
