4858 ogO   FRANCE STARTER COLLECTION.

A fascinating collection housed in two albums, mint and used with many 100s of stamps, all one of a kind, although occasional duplication on 19th century classics. The 'peace and commerce' issues types would benefit from the use of a magnifying glass to confirm the different types listed. Similarly with the 20th century, the collector has put question marks to identify further types on the sowers and subsequent definitives. Comprehensive thereafter although no specific highlights over $100 noted, nevertheless a good foundation with the distinct possibility of discoveries, for the early issues, pre 1920.

4860 ogO   FRANCE AND COLONIES OLDE TYME REFERENCE COLLECTION,

A wonderful collection of 100s repaired, reprinted and genuine 19th century issues, housed on vintage quadrille album pages, as assembled many decades ago. The collection has plenty of interesting material, starting with classic imperfs inc. 20cts black Ceres, through to the Napoleons inc. four of the 1fr and a perf 20cts blue tete-beche pair 'used', leading on to peace and commerce types inc. various Prussian blues good-looking but we presume to be all forgeries. There are also the early Colonies issues including 1872/77 key value 4cts Napoleon and Ceres heads with seven examples from French offices abroad in blue, Saigon, etc. Almost equally impressive range of imperf peace and commerce types 1877/79 including 'used' pairs from New Caledonia, St. Pierre Miquelon, Libreville, Gabon, as well as postage dues with lots of 5fr and again fancy and colored cancels, etc. There is also a challenging range of more than 70 Alsace-Lorraine issues different burelage inc. mint multiples to investigate, although partially remaindered many years ago. This has great potential here for the specialist, collector or dealer. The collection gets better on each inspection , viewing highly recommended.
