1800 O/c   Perforated Initials also known as "perfins", small gathering of 10 covers and over 100 stamps each perforated with an array of different company's, the covers range from 1929 to 1955 and include perfins from Banca Commerciale Italiane (Smith Ty. B-2), Credit Lyonnais Alexandrie (Smith Ty. C-1 and C-2), Ottoman Bank (Smith Ty. O-1), Reinhart & Co. (Smith Ty. R-3) and Vacuum Oil Co. (Smith Ty. V-1), the off-cover stamps are of twelve different types including some better ones such as K&H (Smith Ty. K-2) and Societe Anonyme du Beheira (Smith Ty. S-1), overall condition is generally very fine.

Perforated initials were authorized on January 3, 1895 for use in Egypt in an attempt to quell petty theft. Initials are often found not perfectly aligned with blind, misplaced or missing perforations. This is due to the rapid breakdown of the machines as they were often overworked and designed to only perforate one stamp at a time for which stamps were then folded to perforate multiple stamps - leading to the degradation of the machines. Perfins gradually fell out of use with the onset of metered postage which most companies began switching to toward the second half of the 20th century.
