Daniel F. Kelleher Auctions, LLC Sale - 816

Napoleon Collection of the Confederate States of America - July 29, 2025

Celebrating 140 Years

The Napoleon Collection was formed by one of the smartest people we had the privilege of knowing. He had a great eye for rarity and a keen interest in multiples both on and off cover, spending countless hours in his stamp den researching and writing descriptions of his treasured acquisitions with a unique flair featuring humor and historical context. We are offering some of the lots on his original pages so you can see for yourself. The highlights of this outstanding collection include #62X2 on a 4-page circular, #1 used horizontal strip of 10, #3a unique strip of 5 on a cover, #5 Cammann imprint variety, #10a original gum horizontal strip of 4 and used strip of 6 plus single on a piece of a cover, and the unique #13d double bisect on cover, as well as many phenomenal frankings on adversity and wallpaper covers including one Trans-Mississippi. The collector purchased mostly from public auctions and private transactions from knowledgeable dealers Bill Weiss and Brian Green, mostly from the mid 1990's through 2010, and so virtually every lot offered for sale here has been off the market for 15 to 30 years. We believe that when the sale has been completed, the Napoleon collection will be awarded its elevated place among the finest Confederate collections ever formed.
