Nearly gone are the days when truly outstanding, “A to Z” country stocks are offered. When they do appear, they more often than not offer a mixed bag of coverage and quality, generally limited in scope and organization. This is clearly not the case of Part One of the outstanding “Mannekenpis” stock, which comes to us from the Netherlands.
This holding is meticulously assembled, and very often boasts superior quality items in like quantities, usually no more than five and often three. The breakdown possibilities are streamlined and efficient, and most of these lots, which are offered fully intact, will provide a number of simply produced collection lots ideally suited for the internet trader. We fondly added the word “collection” to the above title, as the owner does in fact, see these as his “collections” as much as his livelihood. He aggressively acquired top-notch quality singles and sets that he did not have, happily adding them to his holding. We heartily welcome viewing either in person or online.
Featuring:
The Mastiff Collection of Worldwide
Ward B. Masden, Jr. Exhibition Collection of Engravers and Siderographers
The “Mannekenpis” Stock & Private Holdings Part I
Worldwide Collections & Stock in over 1000 volumes
Estate of Richard Ellis Part I
The “Hub City” United States Holdings
The Armitage Vast Holding of Duck Stamps & Canadian Stock
Plus the Properties of many other Consignors & Estates

The name Tony Kwan is synonymous with Imperial China’s Dowagers Issue. Kelleher & Rogers is privileged to offer his multiple award-winning collection, which presents some of the finest and most difficult-to-obtain material relating to both the basic issue and its various surcharges—Proofs, unsurcharged Second Printings, Mollendorf’s special printing, a vast array of singles, groups and sets of each printing and surcharge, and a wonderful array of important and striking covers. Among these are the Small Figures 10c on 9ca double surcharge, the “Golden Dragon”, the “Red Ruby”, and the iconic January 1897 use of the Small Figures 4c on 4ca on an incoming cover from France. As much of this material has not been available for 20 years or more, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the advanced collector to fill out his or her collection. (For a personal account of Tony’s collecting—and a complete list of the exhibit’s awards—please see our printed catalogue, also available as a PDF below.)

The "Commander's" Collection of Zeppelin Flights & Related - October 11-13, 2023
The “Commander’s” Collection of Zeppelin Flights and Memorabilia was formed by a life-long passionate and knowledgeable collector, who wished to remain anonymous. He enjoyed the hobby for over seven decades and was a dear friend and colleague; we shared many a story and enthusiastic conversation about numerous acquisitions and potential purchases, and enjoyed the descriptions of other collections. He was also very close with the late Gerhard Wolff, whose collection we were privileged to sell, in association with Heinrich Koehler, when I was with Nutmeg Stamp under Greg Manning Auctions, Inc. That sale was simulcast on Skype in both Bethel, CT and Wiesbaden, Germany—the very first of its kind. The Commander’s collection also will be live on two bidding platforms: Stamp Auction Network and PhilaSearch Live.
Both the scope and depth of this collection—which consists of over 1300 lots within the pages of this catalog—are astounding. Three Hindenburg Crash covers are the most obvious highlight. You will find Pioneer Flights and Early Zeppelin Flights, which include Nobile’s Norge N-1, credited as the first aircraft to fly over the North Pole; Rhein-Main Flights; German Military Airships; USS Akron, USS Macon, USS Shenandoah and USS Los Angeles dirigibles, along with others. The Zeppelin markings contain many scarce to rare postings, frankings, destinations and routes, with several of the difficult to impossible to find Treaty State uses. Lastly, you will find some incredible memorabilia: the Zeppelin Oil Can, Harmonica, Pipe and J.A. Henckels sterling silver barware set, just to name a few of our favorites.
We know that everyone in Aerophilately will appreciate and enjoy this sale, from novice to seasoned expert.
We are truly honored to present the sale to you in both digital and printed formats.

Three Select Rarities of The People's Republic of China - June 29, 2022
Kelleher & Rogers is proud to present this special auction of the People’s Republic of China. The three stamps offered here are not only treasured by collectors, but also stand out as important cultural icons of modern China, embodying its sociopolitical history and mirroring its economic development. As such, they rank among the most famous and desirable philatelic items of the modern era.
1968 “Whole Country is Red” 8 fen Workers, Peasants, Soldier and Map of China, a pristine mint never hinged example of the iconic stamp of the Cultural Revolution. When issued in Beijing on 25 November 1968, it was discovered that there were geographical anomalies in the map of China, such as the omission of the Archipelagos of Xisha and Nanshi, and the entire issue was withdrawn. However, a few post offices had been selling the stamps before the official date of issue.
1968 “Great Victory of the Cultural Revolution” prepared but not issued 8 fen Chairman Mao and Lin Bin Piao appearing before a Victory celebration in the countryside, a magnificent mint never hinged example from the top right corner of the sheet. One of the rarest stamps of the Cultural Revolution, the few examples available are thanks to the post office in Hebei, which sold the stamp before the officially anticipated date of issue. Upon the issue's subsequent cancellation, the entire supply of stamps was returned to Beijing.
1980 “Year of the Monkey” 8 fen, a complete post office fresh mint sheet of eighty. This was the first “New Year” stamp issued by the People’s Republic. With a print run of less than 5,000,000, most examples were sold on a limited basis by the post offices in China and to new issue collectors overseas. Therefore, the number of surviving complete sheets is relatively low.
