1840 1d. black, Pl.5, MA-MJ horizontal strip of 10 on entire from Dublin to Liverpool, tied red MCs, margins just touched in places along top (where there are some faults). Dublin and Liverpool marks on reverse, a little soiling and
some peripheral faults but a remarkable cover, and extremely rare in this format being the largest recorded strip from this plate on cover; cert BPA (1996); ex Daisy, Pichai and Gross.(Image 1)

1840 1d. Black Pl 5, OA-PB block of four (OA, OB and PA being State 2, first repair), just clear to large margins, on neat entire from Maidstone to Ashford, dated 7 November 1841 tied by light strikes of the black Maltese Cross; a few
minor imperfections, the block possibly removed and replaced and showing traces of reduced staining though otherwise fine. A very rare and most attractive block used on cover; cert. RPS (2012); ex Sugden (1951), Meroni (1952)and "Victoriana"

1840 1d black pl.5 TL marginal imprimatur from the first registration sheet (before hardening) showing the plate number "5" in the corner and part of the margin inscription, "... ove the Cement."; extremely large margins on the other
sides; tiny pin hole under queens chignon not detracting from the magnificent appearance. A fine and highly important imprimatur of exhibition quality.
