Mint and used accumulation of thousands housed in a very old-fashioned stockbook, virtually all pre-WWII, with no excessive duplication and plenty of desirable material. The holding is generally in chronological order, yet the presentation is still somewhat chaotic with stamps crowded on top of each other, requiring some work to realise the great potential here. There are many dozens of 19th century Tsarist issues from the 1850s onwards here, also seen stationery cut-squares and revenues of the 19th century, Wenden, as well as further early 20th century Tsarist types with mint blocks and high values even offices in the Turkish Empire and China, etc. Other countries include Azerbaijan, Bulgaria with lots of early lions, Serbia, Thrace, Yugoslavia inc. Croatian bilingual o/ps on Austro-Hungarian mint series, Serbia/Croatia/Slovenia o/ps on postage dues, etc, etc. Anything could be here so please inspect carefully.

Interesting collection of mostly 19th century on album pages with write-up, plus various items of commercial postal history 19th to early 20th century, including a scarce bisect cover as well as colorful multiple frankings. The bisect is on the 1899 2cts gray green Ceres tied on local cover with two whole stamps of the same issue with the wheel overprints. These 1899/1900 wheel overprints appear again on seven different issues, together on registered cover front to San Francisco with 16 stamps in all with denominations to 12cts, including the 2cts green in strip of six and 5cts orange in strip of three, all with star in circle cancels. Another multiple franking is with 1910 Figueroa issues with 2 x 4cts red and black plus block of six and pair of the 3cts orange and black on somewhat battered cover to St. Louis. There is also much attractive postal stationery including paid response card with additional stamps and 11cts pale blue embossed stationery cover to Paris with purple and blue postmarks, etc. The informative reference collection accompanies this very useful group of scarce postal history for the specialist Salvador collector or dealer. Mint and used collection of around 2000 stamps housed in a well filled Scott specialty album, all one of a kind, with highly complete 19th century inc. first issues complete unused, 1874 handstamp o/ps complete mostly mint, followed by 1879s complete used. An excellent collection of well over 500 mint and used stamps written-up on quadrille pages in an album, with attractive mint multiples on many of the issues, as well as errors galore. Highlights include Kingdom of the Hejaz first series complete mint (#L14/L19), extensive Caliphate overprints including Jedda o/ps with red o/p on 11/2pi violet (#L130), interesting errors inc. black o/p inverted on right stamp only of pair of the 1/2pi red, as well as an exceptional series of the 1925 surcharges blue and red complete in never hinged blocks of four (#L149/L159), etc. Then similarly interesting material on the Nejdi administration of Hejaz with page after page of the complicated overprints, including two complete runs of o/ps on Turkish issues mint, 2pi on 3pi red brown additional surcharge (#48) in mint never hinged block of six, surcharges on railway tax stamps complete mint with further examples of the top three values never hinged (#50/54), etc. The Kingdom of Hejaz-Nejd first issues follow including unusual large multiples as well as several different seldom-seen imperfs , and a particularly scarce 1pi carmine (#77) top marginal block of four imperf between vertically, not listed in Scott. Then follow the 1926/27 tughra and 1927 handstamp series both complete mint and used (#98/114), a good range of postage dues with imperf pairs on the first issues and much more. At the back of the book there are two pages with an extraordinary range of dozens of errors on the Arms of Sherif of Mecca types, most impressive and important. A very exciting collection for the specialist with the distinct probability of further finds, especially among these challenging overprints as there is far more here than described. Please leave time for a thorough inspection. (Image)

These include first series Wadi Hanifa to 100p mint never hinged (#211/225) and plant complete mint never hinged (#227/242), airposts #C7/C21 mint with an extra example of the 200p top value never hinged, all the 1963/65 watermarked regulars and airs, 1964/70 redrawn Wadi Hanifa issues mint to 33p (#286/311) with extras inc. 9p never hinged, redrawn plant complete to 200p except the 10p (#314/322, #324/341) all never hinged including two of the 6p, #C40 mint never hinged, etc, followed by the Faisal cartouches with most of the Wadi Hanifas all never hinged inc. scarce 1p (#393), block of four of the 2p, 20p, etc, plants to 33p (only missing the 26p) mostly never hinged with many good extra examples, then the 1968/71 airposts complete mint never hinged (#C88/C95) and the 1968/76 watermark issues with 8 different Wadi Hanifas all never hinged, as well as plants only missing the 9p. The collection continues with further in-depth studies of the 1968/76 pictorial definitives, as well as virtually everything else in complete mint never hinged series through to the 1976/80 oil rigs. The back of the book is similarly well represented inc. 1961 officials complete mint never hinged and highly specialised postal tax section with much mint, etc, etc. We only have space left to briefly mention the postal history which includes beautiful pilgrimage covers with colored illustrations of Mecca, etc. One of the best and most comprehensive collections of post-1933 Saudi Arabia that we've ever had the pleasure to offer. Fascinating mint holding of a few hundred stamps, representing a specialist collector's 'work in progress' with lots of unusual non-Scott listed material. The accumulation is mainly focused on the Koran inscription issues and the early postage dues, including proof pairs of the 1917 Hejaz 1pa lilac brown and 2pi magenta imperf on thick paper, similarly on the 1917 postage dues with proof pairs for all three values. Then the 1921 Kingdom of the Hejaz first o/ps with four full series mint, as well as blocks of four of the 1/4pi green and 1pi blue, leading on to the 1922 arch type o/ps on regulars and postage dues with many attractive mulitples from the edges of the sheet, including inscriptions, etc. Another good area is the King Ali issues with lots of unusual material without overprint from various stages during the production of the series, including block of four of the 2pi blue imperf horizontally, a wonderful array of permutations on the bicolor 10pi value inc. many color combinations of frame and center, frame only, center only, center double, etc, etc, followed by varieties on the overprinted stamps with horizontal o/ps on nearly all values perf, as well as normal o/p on 10pi imperf with center inverted, double o/ps on perforate stamps, horizontal o/ps on postage dues with each value showing double print of the underlying stamp design and more. A wonderful opportunity for the specialist, with much seldom seen material that must be viewed and further researched to appreciate this excellent holding of the unusual.
