War mail: 1914, Germania 10 Pfennig with cancellation "Leipzig-Gohlis 25.7.14" on envelope with routing mark "via Siberia" to Tientsin, China, addressed with red Russian censor cancellation "D.Z." from Vladivostok. The letter was later handed over to Deutsche Post and has a "TIENTSIN DP 14.10.14" arrival datestamp on the reverse. One of the scarce covers from Germany to China that arrived despite the postal interruption, extremely rare in this form

War mail: 1914, Kiautschou 4 cents with watermark, neatly cancelled with Travelling Post Office postmark "TSINGTAU-TSINANFU ZUG 1 17.7.14" on envelope with black censor L1 "D.Z." to Bautzen in good condition. This censor type does not originate from Wladiwostock, presumably the letter was already almost at the German border at the outbreak of World War I and was only censored there. A very rare variant in this combination, signed Dr Steuer BPP

Kriegspost: 1914, Kiautschou 4 Cents mit Wasserzeichen, sauber mit Bahnpost-Stempel "TSINGTAU-TSINANFU ZUG 1 17.7.14" auf Briefkuvert mit schwarzem Zensur-L1 "D.Z." nach Bautzen in guter Erhaltung. Diese Zensur-Type stammt nicht aus Wladiwostock, vermutlich befand sich der Brief zum Ausbruch des 1. Weltkrieges schon fast an der deutschen Grenze und wurde erst dort zensiert. War mail: 1914, issue 1906/19 2 cents on 5 pfennig and 10 cents on 20 pfennig with watermark and cancellation "SHANGHAI 17.7.14" on R-card with much text, addressed to Cameroon. The card was sent to St. Petersburg with arrival postmark on face and return with red Russian censor cancellation "D.Z." from Vladivostok. The card was then sent to Hamburg via the USA and returned to Shanghai with the handwritten note "no connection". The postal official in Shanghai provided the card with a new address in Hamburg and sent the card again, this time with a reverse arrival datestamp of "HAMBURG 29.4.15" and forwarding to Wilhelmshaven with a wide arrival postmark of 30.4.1915. An exceptional piece from the early days of the First World War, signed Bothe BPP

Die Karte kam bis St. Petersburg mit vorderseitigem Ankunftsstempel und retour mit rotem russischem Zensurstempel "D.Z." aus Wladiwostok. Danach wurde die Karte über die USA nach Hamburg befördert und mit handschriftlichem Vermerk "keine Verbindung" nach Shanghai zurückgeschickt. Der Postbeamte in Shanghai versah die Karte mit neuer Adresse in Hamburg und versendete die Karte erneut, diesmal mit rückseitigem Ankunftsstempel von "HAMBURG 29.4.15" und Nachsendung nach Wilhelmshaven mit weiterem Ankunftsstempel vom 30.4.1915. Ein außergewöhnliches Stück aus der Anfangszeit des 1. Weltkrieges, signiert Bothe BPP

War mail: 1914, issue 1906/19 4 cents on 10 pfennig, three single values 2 cents on 5 pfennig and on the reverse 1 cent on 3 pfennig with watermark in block of eight each with cancellation "SCHANGHAI DP 18.7.14" as postage paid registered covers to Leipzig with reverse transit cancellation of St. Petersburg and red Russian censor cancellation "D.Z." from Vladivastok on the way back to Shanghai. Presumably the letter was not forwarded wide via the USA, further transport was only undertaken at the sender's own risk. The envelope with stronger traces of transport in the margin, otherwise in well overall condition

Kriegspost: 1914, Ausgabe 1906/19 4 Cents auf 10 Pfennig, drei Einzelwerten 2 Cents auf 5 Pfennig und rückseitig 1 Cent auf 3 Pfennig mit Wasserzeichen im Achterblock je mit Stempel "SCHANGHAI DP 18.7.14" als portogerechte Frankatur auf R-Brief nach Leipzig mit rückseitigem Durchgangsstempel von St. Petersburg und rotem russischem Zensurstempel "D.Z." aus Wladiwastok auf dem Weg zurück nach Shanghai. Vermutlich wurde der Brief nicht weiter über die USA befördert, eine weitere Beförderung wurde nur auf eigene Gefahr des Absenders vorgenommen. Der Umschlag mit stärkeren Beförderungsspuren im Rand, ansonsten in guter Gesamterhaltung

The letter was returned and then sent to Dresden via the American postal service with arrival postmark of 29/10/14. The envelope and the right stamp (postage stamp) with heavier fold marks, despite the imperfections a not frequent censored letter from the early days of World War I

Incoming Mail: 1910, peace printing 1905 2 stamp (postage stamp), 1 stamp (postage stamp) and 80 Pfennig each with cancellation "HANNOVER 28.10.10" upward and reverse on parcel card with routing label "Eydtkuhnen" and altered routing mark and crossed-out Ra3 "Voie Russie et par bureau russe a Chefoo" and new routing mark "Über Russland und das russische Post-amt in Tientsin" to Peking. Parcels to Tientsin and Beijing were not sent via Chefoo, but via the Russian postoffice in Tientsin. The form with adhesion marks on the reverse and the 1 mark stamp (postage stamp) with a corner tooth defect, otherwise in good overall condition. In this combination a very rare use to China

Incoming Mail: 1910, Friedensdruck 1905 2 Mark, 1 Mark und 80 Pfennig je mit Stempel "HANNOVER 28.10.10" vorder- und rückseitig auf Paketkarte mit Leitzettel "Eydtkuhnen" und geänderten Leitvermerk und durchgestrichenem Ra3 "Voie Russie et par bureau russe a Chefoo" und neuem Leitstempel "Über Russland und das russische Post-amt in Tientsin" nach Peking. Pakete nach Tientsin und Peking wurden nicht über Chefoo befördert, sondern über das russische Postamt Tientsin. Das Formular rückseitig mit Haftstellen und die 1 Mark-Marke mit Eckzahnfehler, sonst in guter Gesamterhaltung. In dieser Kombination eine sehr seltene Verwendung nach China

Incoming Mail: 1912, Germania 20 Pfennig and vertical pair 25 Pfennig each with cancellation "KATHKOW 24.1.12" on value cover over 50 stamps (63 Franc) via Eydtkuhnen with six new varnish seals of the postoffice and weight control cancellation wide via "CHANGCHUN I.J.P.O.", "CHEFOO I.J.P.O 15.2.12" (with L2 "IRPO CHEFOO" on face) and Russian postoffice "TSCHIFU" to the naval depot Tsingtau with arrival postmark of the German postoffice. The envelope with vertical fold is otherwise in good overall condition. From 1910 it was also possible to send valuable letters via Siberia; only a few examples are known to date

Reverse with sender's inscription from the Torbeedo boat "Hai-Lung" (later renamed SMS Taku). The cover with traces of water on the right, otherwise in good condition and according to certificate Jäschke-L. BPP (2004) the cancellations are contemporary and used as required
