EXTREMELY FINE AND PRISTINE. A REMARKABLE COVER BEARING THE $5.00 COLUMBIAN TIED BY THE WORLD'S FAIR EXPOSITION MACHINE CANCEL.

There are only seven covers bearing the $5.00 Columbian used with the World's Fair machine cancel listed in the Ludeman Columbian Dollar-Value Cover Census. This is easily one of the finest single-franking $5.00 Columbian covers extant.

2349 c Image6c Claret (305). Used with two each 1c and 4c 1902 Issue (300, 303), tied by blurry strikes of San Juan, Puerto Rico boxed handstamps with San Juan registry label (FX-SJ1) on 2c entire (U385) to Leipzig, Germany, transited New York with second registry label and May 5, 1906 backstamps

VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO, REGISTRY EXCHANGE LABEL. ONLY EIGHT ARE RECORDED -- MAKING IT THE RAREST REGISTRY LABEL USED OUTSIDE THE U.S. MAINLAND.

The Registry Exchange labels were listed in Scott only recently. Their catalogue listing and continuing scholarship by specialists has significantly increased demand for the rarest examples. The San Juan label is known in only one style and is among the rarest of all the labels with only eight examples recorded. It is the rarest among the labels used outside the U.S. mainland.

FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE 1922 ONE-CENT ROTARY PERF 11, SCOTT 544, ON A VALENTINE CARD. VERY FEW ARE KNOWN.

A small quantity of 1c Rotary Press stamps was perforated 11 at the end of 1922, using remainder sheets from the earlier printings that were normally perforated in 10 gauge or 10/11 compound gauge. Its existence as a Perf 11 variety was discovered in 1936, and the stamp received its Scott Catalogue listing in 1938.
