York Steamship ? 20" circular datestamp on 1870 cover to Pottsville Penn., with original enclosure datelined "'Lancaster' Sunday Afternoon May 15, 1870" contents mentions Valparaiso, Chile (the likely origin) and "Those who attended said it was a big affair and all the fashionable people of Montevideo were there, late in the evening", Very Fine and very scarce, the Lancaster, under the command of William B. Cushing, arrived in Brazil on January 6, 1870 and served as flagship of the Atlantic Squadron until 1875, this was likely carried on the South America, which departed Rio on June 25 and arrived in New York July 20 with a stop in St. Thomas (Image)

Dec. 27" (1869) circular datestamp on cover addressed in old European style to Switzerland, bold red "New York Paid All Br. Transit Dec. 31" circular datestamp, manuscript "Wyoming Neb. Dec. 27" at left, Extremely Fine, Wyoming lies a few miles northwest of Nebraska City, apparently this cover was "postmarked" at Wyoming, but the stamp was cancelled and datestamp applied at the larger office in Nebraska City, a remarkable use of this 1869 Pictorial high value from an extremely remote midwestern location, ex Haas, Klein and Dr. Martin, with 2005 P.F. certificate (Image)
