Shanghai Oct. 12" circular datestamp on 1871 cover to North Prospect Me., neat "San Francisco Cal. Nov. 16" circular datestamp, blue "Forwarded by Russell & Co. Shanghai Oct. 11, 1871" backstamp, minor edgewear barely affects stamp, slightly reduced at right, still Very Fine, carried on the PMSS branch line's New York, which sailed Oct. 12 and arrived in Yokohama Oct. 20, it was then placed on the PMSS steamer Japan, which departed Oct. 23 and arrived in San Francisco Nov. 15, a rare use of the grilled 10c Bank Note on a cover from the U.S. Consul in Shanghai, with 1991 P.F. certificate stating "genuine" (Image)
