Lot Sym. Lot Description
1219   Image1859-63, 2c Black, Overlapping Impressions (16f). Plate 3-F, Type I (Westerberg Position 3), large margins to just touched for primary impression, showing two other impressions at left, blue "Lahaina Hawaiian-Islands" circular datestamp, thins, creases and repairs including part at left painted in

FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1863 2-CENT HAWAIIAN NUMERAL SHOWING OVERLAPPING IMPRESSIONS. WE HAVE OFFERED ONLY ONE OTHER SINCE KEEPING COMPUTERIZED RECORDS.

The Numeral issues were printed in panes of ten, which were part of larger size sheets. Overlapping impressions were caused when the paper was incorrectly lined up for the next pane of ten. Very few are known for any Numeral. We have offered only one other for this Scott number since keeping computerized records (also ex Honolulu Advertiser), and only one other for all Numerals (Scott 22, also ex Honolulu Advertiser).

Ex Honolulu Advertiser. With 2006 H.P.S. certificate. Listed but unpriced in Scott. (Image)
