Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 658 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • Lot 44 - Scott no. 311 $1.00 BLACK, UPPER RIGHT CORNER MARGIN BLOCK OF 4, F-VF, beautiful block!

  • Lot 62 - Scott no. 479 $2.00 DARK BLUE, BOTTOM PLATE BLOCK OF 6 NO. 8015, F-VF, with Washington, D.C. ccls; gorgeous block and super RARE Used!

  • UNITED STATES, There are (101) U.S. lots offered, includes a splendid assortment of Classics, with several scarce issues. In addition to the lots mentioned in our header, there are other notable Scott nos.: 9 (double transfer variety), 85B, 154, 212, 310 and 583a complete booklet. There are some Banknotes, Columbians, Washington/Franklins, and Kansas/Nebraska overprint issues. The rest are a mixture of 1922 Regular and Modern issues.
  • COVERS, There are (13) Cover lots; (8) Commercial, including covers with early US imperforates (no's 9,10A,11 and 11A), and (5) First Day covers.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, This section contains (45) lots of which (19) are Air Post with very attractive copies of C1-C6 singles and sets. The others are a mix of Postage Due, Special Delivery, Revenue and State revenue stamps. Also, a NH copy of E3, the Columbian Exposition Orange issue.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, there are (34) Lots including Scott no. 527, 2¢ Carmine, Type V, Offset Printing Bottom Plate Block of 6 no. 11165, NH, with triple plate number impressions, a "ghost" to left and right, scarce.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, There are about (246) lots to consider, with some excellent collections from British Africa and Carribean, and some interesting Topical collections. Many Canadian classics are also offered.; along with Republic of China Scott no.1091a Souvenir folder of (3) Souvenir Sheets of (5) stamps each (the number of folders prepared is given as 15,449); and several colorful PRC sets.

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, about (30) lots offered with (16) Autograph lots; (10) lots of medals and tokens with a couple book and newspaper lots.

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS & PRINTS, contains about (186) lots, with Federals; singles, mini-sheets, remarques, EFO's, and artist signed stamps. The State Duck stamps category, consists of singles, Governor's Editions, and Conservation issues. Highlights are: Scott no. RW2 -1935 CANVASBACK, scarcest of all Federal duck stamps! This is a pristine example, full original gum, VF-XF NH wtih rich, blazing deep rose color! Amazing stamp! Also, rounding out the popular duck stamp categories, are (6) Federal Duck Stamp Prints, including RW39, 40, 44, 45, 50 and 60. There are (15) State Duck Prints, including (5) First of State. Also, duck prints from Argentina, Canada and Russia. Nice selection of prints!
