1715 c Image5c Blue, Local, Oxford N.C. Roulette (7 var). Horizontal pair, clear roulette perforations at top and bottom, tied by "Oxford N.C. May 2" circular datestamp on homemade cover to Louisburg N.C., slightly reduced at left, Very Fine, the 5c Local printing is exceedingly rare with private perfs, this is the only example listed in Power Search with Oxford roulettes and the C.S.A. catalog lists only the 5c De La Rue (which is also rare) from the Typographed issues, Oxford private perfs are normally encountered on the 10c Blue or 20c Green Engraved issues (Image) E. $ 500-750

Huge sheet margin at left, other sides ample to clear, small stain at top, cancelled by grid on adversity cover made from a Confederate States of America Interrogatory Demand Notice, locally addressed to Wilmington N.C., opened for display, small tear at right not affecting stamp, Very Fine, according to Wikipedia, the 1861 Sequestration Act was an attempt to garner resources for the Confederate government and "provided for confiscation of all Union 'lands, tenements, goods and chattels, right and credits' and the transfer of debt obligation on the part of Confederate citizens from Northern creditors directly to the Confederate government," this notice demands the appearance of the recipient for interrogation under the Act, Scott Retail as normal cover without the adversity use (Image) $ 1,500.00

VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND CHOICE USE OF 2-CENT ENGRAVED "RED JACK" MULTIPLES, PAYING THE 10-CENT RATE FROM CAMDEN TO FLAT ROCK, SOUTH CAROLINA.
