Hege to military address at General Cook's Brigade in Richmond Va., right stamp creased, barely reduced at right, minor edgewear, second cover matches the first but stampless with "Paid 10" handstamp, small edge repair, Fine matched pair of covers with postage paid by stamps and cash, Private Constantine Alexander Hege was a pacifist who did not want to be in the Confederate Army, did not believe in slavery and was delighted to be captured and placed in Old Capitol prison in Washington, he later moved into a religious community in Pennsylvania (see Siegel Sale 792, lot 833) (Image) E. $ 400-500
