1530   ImageNEW BRUNSWICK, 1860, 5c Connell, 10c Queen Victoria, Se-Tenant Trial Color Plate Proof on India Paper (5TC, 9TC). 53 x 24mm with wide gutter between, printed in deep blue with card backing, diagonal broken crease from about middle of gutter to about middle of the Connell stamp, otherwise Very Fine, very rare proof from the Sir Gawaine Baillie collection, Connell, a provincial postmaster, had his own portrait engraved on the 5c stamp instead of Queen Victoria, once this was discovered the entire printing of the Connell stamp was seized and destroyed although a few escaped destruction and today are very rare and much sought-after stamps (Image)

Accumulation of over 400 stamps, incl. 237 and 183 respectively of the 2c and 5c, unused (no gum), incl. complete sheets of 2c (no selvage) and 5c, other three values virtually all o.g. with a few Mint N.H., about 40 of each, incl. 1c blocks of four and eight with full imprint selvage, 12-1/2c handsome top right corner selvage block of 30, 17c with six blocks of four and block of 16, o.g. but with some light black offset, generally Fine-Very Fine, more than just a wholesale accumulation due to the scarce large multiples that will surely "dress up" an exhibit collection of this Canadian Maritime Province, approximate Scott Retail as original gum $14,000.00
