The collection begins with a Schwanebergers album, containing many hundreds of stamps, with strength in France, Germany, and North American countries, noting better Canada with Scott #s 14, 17-19 (used, c.v. $640 total), 51-57 (m.h., $692 total), 58-60 (used, $570 total), along with USA #291 50c Trans-Mississippi (used, $175). The lot continues with a Scott International album, 1901-1916 Edition, containing a few hundred stamps, with a spot check indicating a few stamps cataloguing $5 and higher, noting some nice town postmarks. The personal correspondence consists of mainly overseas letters from stamp dealers to the collector (many still having the enclosure), noting letters from Germany, Switzerland, France, China, etc., along with letters from the collector to foreign stamp dealers including a 1937 letter from Canada to Belgium, refused and returned with 1.40Fr Belgium postage due franking. The lot is a recently unearthed find and has not been opened since the 1950s, leaving potential finds for the dedicated collector. Online photos show a sampling. Strength is in Great Britain, including Isle of Man and Guernsey. We noted Scott #s 32, 43 plate 11 (x2), 96, 107 (perfin), 122, 179 and O36. The G.B. also includes 1d black reprints, Railway stamps and 1937 Coronation labels, not all included in the catalogue value (total c.v. $1,379). We saw Ethiopia C18-20 (m.h., c.v. $175) and 3 Albanian sets (c.v. $165), modern Germany and Berlin (m.n.h., c.v. $240) along with some used, not counted, a used Cape of Good Hope #5 (c.v. $225) and Cyprus #218 (x9). Also contains New Zealand used Arms Postal Fiscals along with poster stamps and a few proofs. Some of the mint has hinge remnants or thins, but the overall quality is fine or better.
