237 O 34-47 imageAccumulation of Used Small Queens, consisting of roughly 1,000 stamps, in stockbooks, manilla pages and glassines. The majority of stamps range between 1c and 3c along with 5c (x79), 6c (x42), 8c (x89), 10 (x24), along with a 20c Widow Weeds and 6x 50c Widow Weeds. The accumulation includes some notations attempting to identify the different printings, shades, and perforations, along with a wide variety of postmarks (we note a selection of 2-ring (unchecked by us), bull's eye, town cancels, fancy corks, etc. The lot concludes with a few envelopes of unsorted 3c stamps. An interesting lot that could benefit with future study. Postmarks range from clear to faint, with a few socked on the nose and is overall fine to very fine. 238 O 34-47 imageLarge Remainder from an Old Time Small Queen Collection, mostly housed in black stock pages in two medium binders, plus two stockbooks. This material, accumulated over several years, was put away in the early 1980s and has just been unearthed. There is a little bit of everything here, from the ½c to the 50c, with all denominations and all printings (first Ottawa, Montréal and second Ottawa). The material is more or less sorted by denomination and is more or less mixed within each, noting some items described for papers, postmarks, plate inscriptions, perforations, printings, shades and more, with some notable used strips, blocks, etc. There are loads of early printings here (many more than usual) with 3c copper reds and roses, 1c orange and red orange, 6c yellow brown, many early 10c shades, etc, as well as some better postmarks, including dated town cancels, fancy corks, etc. We highly recommend viewing this one in person in advance of the auction, to better appreciate all that is present, despite our usual good sampling of pictures online. 239 O/CVR 34-47 imageOld Time Exhibit of Small Queen Stamps and Postmarks, a 30 page exhibit shown in 1986 (at the local level A.P.O. show), in French, with a (translated) title "Diversity in the Small Queens" with a goal to show different ways in which these fascinating little definitives can be collected. The exhibit starts by showing used perforations, then papers, guide dots, rates (on covers), shades, printing errors then postmarks, and shows a little bit of everything from the half cent to the 50c values. Lots of valuable material here, with early shades, covers, better postmarks, re-entries, imprints, and more. Some stamps are dated, which helps in identification of the printing / shade. We note one page showing similarities between some of the the 3c and 10c shades. The exhibit is missing some stamps such as some 1c shades (we assume these to be in our "remainders" lot), still a great basis for the beginner to expand upon, or advanced collector to pick out good items, etc. All pages scanned online for your home-viewing comfort.
