205 O 37d image1870 3c Deep Copper Red Small Queen, Perforated 12½, used with a 2-ring # 29 cancel from Cobourg, creased but with deep colour and fine appearance. A very rare usage of this perforation variety, as the great majority are known to have been used in the Maritime provinces, and only three covers have been found that were used in Ontario, plus one in Québec, likely by people who carried them there from the Maritimes to use. This rare stamp is from a recent find of a Small Queen collection which has not been seen since the 1980s and accompanied by interesting collateral material. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (All Scans)
