594 PC 89 image1906 Picture Postcard to Hanoi Indochina, mailed from montréal on JUN.25.1906 (duplex ties stamp onto picture side) to a Military Hospital in Hanoi, with Tonkin AUG.1 and Hanoi AUG.13 transits on message side, plus an Quang Yen AUG.14 receiver on picture side. The postcard was mailed at the 1c printed matter rate and franked so with a 1c Edward, wrapped across the top which was customary in those days to convey a message. Very fine. The 1c KGV stationery cover is uprated with 1c (x8), 2c (x3) and 5c Edwards paying the proper UPU rate. This was the last day of the 5c per ½oz rate. Punch hole at left and other small faults, still a scarce rate.

596 CVR 89, 90, 94, 104 image1917 Registered Special Delivery Cover to Bahamas, mailed from Winnipeg on JAN.18.1917 to Nassau Bahamas with JAN.30 receivers both front and back, through Montreal and New York (JAN.23 transits). The cover was later returned to Winnipeg, again through New York (FEB.3 transit). The cover is franked with a number of Edward issues and a 1c Admiral, for a total of 28c and has a scarce private registration label applied in Winnipeg. There is also a Bahamas E1 Special Delivery stamp applied in Winnipeg for the service to be done in Nassau, which is the better Type I variety of overprint. 600 of these stamps were sent to Canada to be used for this service, and Scott lists Winnipeg as being the better of the usages at $2,000, but states that the use must be before December 13, 1916 (this cover was mailed only one month later). A great cover with many attributes, showing 12 datestamps on back, with a few creases, still fine. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans)
