Useful collection of mint and used stamps  ,incorporating postal history chronologically organised with a one-of-a-kind run from the #1 through to the 1950s, followed by a working stock with further hundreds of stamps from the 1883 to 1920s. We note first series complete, 1887/91 Chulalongkorn series complete, through to 1889 surcharges with possible better types definitely deserving further investigation and time well spent, followed by dozens of the "atts" surcharges, 1899/1904s complete used, 1905/08 temple types complete used, 1908 statue of Chulalongkorn on horse complete use to 40 ticals blue and black, 1909 satang o/ps inc. 6s on 4a red and gray mint, etc. Then 1912 King Vajiravudh complete used to 20 baht blue and brown, 1926 throne room complete used, etc. as well as better back of the book with all three series of the 1920 wild tiger corps 'scouts fund' semi-postals complete used, leading on to the postal history including Vienna printing 1 baht Vajiravudh in combination with 1932 Prajadhipok issues on cover to Berlin, accompanied by vivid red juxtaposed luftpost cancel and more than a dozen other colorful frankings from a correspondence, , especially attractive with the issues of the 1941 Mahidol/plowman/pavilion series, including illustrated covers etc. Completely uncataloged with strong possibility of sleepers especially in the many atts issues. Occasional mixed condition as to be expected, please inspect carefully as there is much more here than described.
A very attractive complete 19th century collection from a vintage album, including 1883 first series complete mint (#1/5), the scarce 1885 "1 tical" surcharges with the type a (#6) unused with tiny faults and the best type c mint (#8) with one short perf mentioned for accuracy's sake only, followed by the 1887 Chulalongkorn defins complete mint (#11/18), then a good range of the handstamp surcharges including the 1a on 2a green and carmine #22 mint, thru 1891 2a on 3a green and blue with #27 mint and #28 used. Far better condition here than normally encountered, vibrant colors hardly ever exposed to light with all the overprints authentic including the ticals. Please study carefully as there is the distinct possibility of further finds to be made on overprint varieties &ndash, this was formed over 80 years ago.
An extraordinary collection of well over 4000 stamps housed in two volumes and a group of folders, with scarce issues present and loaded with varieties, many being identified yet with many more to be found when these pages are examined diligently. The collection starts with the 1920 nationalist government o/ps including an extraordinary 3pi on 6pa dark blue mint pair with inverted surcharges (#3 var), as well as a mint single with normal o/p, 1921 post surcharges inc. on #2 used though with indistinct cancelation (#6a), 3pi on 6pa (#8) mint x2, one signed, mint never hinged signed three times and used, etc. then 3pi on 2pa violet inc. o/ps on #4 mint never hinged and used (#10a), the former with the earlier o/p inverted. Then follows an impressive showing of the overprints on large revenue types, with highlights including 1pi green religious tribunals mint never hinged and used (#12) and the 500pi orange used (#16), court costs 10pa green mint and used x2, all signed (#18), lots of 100pi browns inc. mint strip of 3 (#22) and the 500pi slate mint (#23), then the 50pi ocher notary public with 5 used examples all without cut cancelations (#24), the 100pi yellow brown used and also sound (#26) followed by the extremely scarce 20pa black land registry issue (#27) mint never hinged requiring expertisation. Then the "1337" o/ps inc. 50pi yellow ocher used (#36) and a brown ocher mint example with highly unusual machine overprint not listed in Scott, followed by land registry 2pi blue black mint and used x4 (#40) and the 1pi ultra museum tax stamp mint (#42) with a couple insignificant tone spots, leading on to the notary public series inc. scarce long o/p variety on 10pa green listed but unpriced in Scott (#46a), 10pa pink (#49) with blocks showing shifted perfs and o/ps, etc. The 1921 Turkish inscription issues follow including nine mint or used examples each of the 20pa on 1pi (#53) and 1pi on 1pi (#57) and lots of mint multiples on the other denominations, then naval league labels inc. 2pa indigo inverted o/p pair (#60 var), thru the 40pa red brown (#63) with three used and four mint examples mostly signed inc. one with shifted o/p signed twice, leading on to the o/ps on Turkish stamps of 1915/20 with the good 5pa ocher newspaper stamp mint (#68) and the 1922 pictorials complete mint and used (#78/89). The second volume is dedicated to varieties and errors running again from the first issues, with highlights including red o/p on 3pi on 4pa brown #2 mint (#7a), "1337" overprints with date inverted including on cover (#35b), 1pi ultra notary public with "131" for "1337" in mint pair with normal, signed twice (#47b), then many dozens of inverted o/ps on the R16 types inc. 2pi green mint with signed mint never hinged examples and block of eight (#51d), as well a 5pi imperf between pair used (#52a) and three examples of the bisect used on postal stationery (#52e) all unpriced in Scott. Then a fascinating section for non Scott listed errors inc. 10pa slate mint never hinged with inverted o/p (#29 var), 5pi red with "123"' error used on piece (#35 var), 10pa pink block of four imperf vert (#49 var), 5pi red pair mint never hinged with o/p sideways (#52 var), thru to lots of date errors on the Turkish inscription issues (#53/56) and unauthorised bisects on piece, similarly on the Hejaz railway tax stamp (#58), naval league issues with red o/ps (#59/61 vars), 1922 pictorials with 5pi soldier vertical pair imperf between (#82 var), etc, etc. There is much, much more here to investigate including interesting postal history, and a further stack of material including sheets and part sheets with for example the 5pi ultra x25 (#31), as well as extensive studies on quadrille pages written-up in detail. This is an exciting and incredible holding for the specialist with enormous potential. , ,(photo) (Image 1)
Grandfather&rsquo,s collection of over 75 different stamps, mint and used neatly displayed on 19th century gold-edged album pages for issues to 1887, with lots of classic imperfs through a useful range of Bolivars. We note both printings of the first issues complete, this includes fine impression of the 2r mint and then the coarse impressions of the 1r blue and 2r red mint, followed by the 1861 arms complete unused with the top value signed and the 1863/64 eagles with 1/2ct pale red and both shades of the 2r green mint, followed by a good range of the octagonal arms types inc. 1867 1ct blue green unused and 1874s with 1ct lilac mint, 2cts green unused, etc. up to an attractive example of the 2r yellow used with particularly wide margins and blue cancel. Then the Bolivars with many imperfs, 1880 50cts used in two different shades, rouletted 8 types to 1 bolivar and 3 bolivares, etc. Though there are catalog figures in pencil from several decades ago, this is completely uncataloged by us and sleepers will be present in this quality collection. Please inspect carefully as this collection was formed 80 years ago..
An excellent collection, housed in one substantial volume, with well over 700 mint stamps, virtually all one of a kind excepting the multiples, mostly pairs or blocks of 4, with many scarce issues present. Beginning with Kingdom of Viet Nam with highlights including the 1951 first series souvenir booklet (see note after #13), another booklet not mentioned in Scott with twenty of the 1952 red cross semi-postal issue (#B1), the 1954 crown prince series complete mint never hinged (#20/26), etc. Then a fabulous range of the 1945/46 Viet Minh provisional overprints on stamps of Indochina, seemingly complete including the rarest issue the "viet nam dan chu cong hoa" and "buu chinh" on 25cts blue rice planter with both types of overprint mint never hinged (#1L14, #1L14a), plus an extraordinary error not mentioned in Scott on "doc -lap tu-do hanh-phuc buu-chinh" on 4cts Doumer pair, with the right-hand stamp having the line "hanh-phuc" inverted, se-tenant with normal, very seldom seen. These issues run all the way through to the 1948 Ho Chi Minh types on tissue paper mint and used (#1L62/1L63) along with the scarce 1956 50 dong surcharge also both mint (x2) and used (#50) leading on to the Democratic Republic with a very strong showing, including leaders with flags series complete mint x2 (#6/8), 1954 surcharges with four different types all used (#12, 13, 13 var, 14) as well as mint with all the o/p color permutations on the 10d on 100d and 20d on 300d (#13, 14 vars) and multiples inc. 10d on 100d inverted o/p pair and 20d on 200d block of four. Then Victory at Dien Bien Phu series complete mint (#17/19), the very scarce 5d official surcharge mint (#O7), land reform series complete mint with two examples of the top value (#23/27) and the series again in blocks of four, followed by the Cu Chinh Lan officials complete mint (#O10/O16), return of government regular series complete mint (#28/31) and a very good range of the box surcharges with different colors not listed in Scott, for example the 20d on 200d with purple o/ps on pair and black o/ps on block of four, etc. The Democratic Republic continues virtually complete with better later series inc. 1960 Hung Vuong temple series (#119/120), 1961 music souvenir sheet (#182a), 1963 bird souvenir sheet (#274), etc, etc. Plenty of other interesting material here including a series of progressive color trials in blocks of four for an unissued design of soldier and girl on horseback, starting with the imperf showing just the design with no color to perforations with full colors. One of the best collections of this country we have offered in many years. ,
