1456 og   Valuable mint collection strong in back-of-the-book, in two Lighthouse hingeless albums, at one time the collector tried to fill all of the spaces in the album, but at some point realized this would be too costly, so he concentrated all his efforts on back-of-the-book issues, namely postage dues, officials and newspaper stamps, which are all exceptionally well filled with mint stamps, the postage dues are missing only two special printings (1c and 3c) for completion, but does contain the other five special printings, four of which are accompanied by old PF and/or APS Board of Examiners certificates, includes all the key stamps such as #J29 and J58, the official are complete (except the stamp in the space of #O113 is actually #O82), including the State Dept. dollar values, #O94, O103 and O113, the newspaper stamps are quite comprehensive and contain a large number of scarce high cataloging items, the 1875 Continental Issue is lacking only the $6.00 value for completion, the 1879 American printing is just about complete through the $48.00 value, the 1885 Issue is complete, and the 1894 B.E.P. Issue contains the 2c, 4c and 6c values, plus some later issues, also some other back-of-the-book such as Offices in China complete and some Confederate States, in 2009 the collector sent most of the newspaper stamps (and one postage due) to the Philatelic Foundation for certificates, they all came back genuine and mostly classified correctly, but some did note faults (mostly small), the condition of the other higher values is somewhat mixed, but it does include fine-very fine stamps; collections containing this many scarce, rare and high cataloging stamps are rarely offered at auction. Est. $30,000-40,000
