1870 (March 27) Bolgrad Bisect 10b blue, Carol I with whiskers, imperforate with marginal base (discovered in 1928 by I. Odor), one of 23 recorded and only three known tied to a Quntanta form used for value declared, this one
mentioned by Heimbüchler (pag. 298); unique usage of a marginal 10b blue; we have recorded one other marginal Bolgrad bisect but with 10b yellow, which was offered in 2007 in the sale of the Cornelia collection for 15,000 CHF.(Image 1)

1871 (Feb 16) Maritime cover sent using the DDSG service to Braila, franked with horizontal pair 5b carmine-pink, Carol I with beard, imperforate (left stamp with repaired margin top and left) otherwise very fine, tied by a
superb "Calafat Sera" cds in blue, "P.D." boxed in blue, arrival on reverse "Braila Dim" dated 18.2, the cover endorsed "Cu Vaporu" (by Steamboat); overland mail took several days, the boat service being much quicker and the Faranga merchants having
a special agreement with DDSG for postal deliveries the normal rate being 10b for a domestic letter (the service was in operation from October 1870 to late 1872); very few covers recorded which used this postal arrangement and rare franking with a
pair of 5b, being of greater rarity than the single 10b frankings (with the exception of the Paris issue).(Image 1)

1871 (Jan 7) Registered cover sent to Fogaras (Hungary) franked with a 15b vermilion, Carol I with whiskers, imperforate, three margins cancelled by a Campulung blue cds to front paying the near distance rate, and a 25b orange
and blue, Carol I with whiskers, imperforate, four good margins, tied to the back by Campulung blue cds, paying the registration fee; the near distance rate to the Austrian Empire was 15b (the normal rate was 25b), and nearly all the covers bearing
this rate were sent to Itzcani; a cover sent registered to Hungary at the 15 Bani rate is a major rarity.(Image 1)

1871 (Sept 1) Return receipt which accompanied a registered letter sent from Dorohoi, bearing a superb mixed franking of the 2b orange with four good to large margins, and the 3b violet large to huge margins showing the
spectacular variety broken "S" in "POSTA", tied by scroll type A65 cds, paying the 5b fee for a return receipt; central vertical crease which has been reinforced, horizontal crease through top of 2b, some wear to edges as would be expected for such a
document; however an attractive item and an extraordinarily rare combination, the 3b in superb condition with the variety; which is only present on one position of the six different stones, possibly a unique example of this variety on cover; cert.

1871 10b ultramarine, on white wove paper, type II, mint block of twenty, with blank space top right, and position 99 showing the "blob under neck" flaw, original gum, 14 stamps n.h., only one stamp touched top otherwise
margins all round, superb showpiece block of twenty; a block of 19 is illustrated in the Heimbüchler handbook on page 30; according to our records, this is the largest known multiple showing the blank space and the variety of position 99, probably
unique.(Image 1)

1872 (May 2) Cover to Itzcani (part of Austria at the time) franked with strip of three 5b red, four margin, horizontal crease at top, tied by blue Botosani cds, "P.D." boxed mark in blue to front, rare Itzcani arrival on
reverse dated 8 May, sent when the rate for the first weight bracket letter sent to the borderline territories of Austo-Hungarian Empire was 15 Bani; in June 1871 a Romanian post office was established in the Austrian railway station in Itzcani and
all correspondence exchanged with Austria occurred from then through this post office (prior sent through Gara Roman post office); very rare backstamp of the Romanian post office abroad which first opened in 1871 in what was at the time Austria; the
franking of a strip of three of the 5 Bani stamp is most unusual, we do not know of another example.(Image 1)
