1620   Egypt Remarkable Perforated Initials (Perfins) Collection. Neatly mounted and housed in two albums, contains over 1,800 perfins and 34 covers or documents organized by company, wide array of common, scarce and rare companies, better ones noticed incl. "ESS CL", "IOB" (Ty. 1 and 2), "K&H" (both A and C), "ROL", "VO Co", "ABE", "BCIE", "C&Co", plus numerous of "OB" and "TC&S" (Thomas Cook), and many more, even some Sudan overprints, covers mixed in but incl. a small group of Shell Company documents, generally Fine or better and immensely difficult to recreate, Egyptian perfins were authorized for use beginning Jan. 3, 1895 in an attempt for companies to deter theft of their stamps, ultimately these were replaced with the onset of metered postage towards the second half of the 20th century
