1863-81 Laureates 4d rose Single-Lined '4' Wmk SG 110 with Major Error 'VICTORIA' Omitted, tied to small piece by part-duplex '3'
of Castlemaine, a couple of trimmed perfs at lower-right don't detract. Ex Charles Lathrop Pack (manuscript "Pack paid £100" on reverse: a fearsome amount before World War II), Nick Holness - sold at our auction of 22.4.2006 for $2645 (Sale 121 Lot
398) - and 'Dubois' (I), sold for SFr1098. A dramatic variety, caused by faulty makeready, deserving of listing by Stanley Gibbons: compare Half-Lengths 'TWO PENCE' Omitted SG 15b, priced at £15,000. Illustrated by Geoff Kellow at page 162 where he
states "...perhaps six used copies are known". However, we know of only one other, and there may be a third. (Image1)

1884 Stamp Statute Typographed Wmk 19 (V1) 3d mauve SG 221, very well-centred, large-part gum, Cat £2250. Rare: Geoff Kellow at
page 216 states that only 4552 were issued, making it much scarcer than the 4d - Cat £1500 - of which 23,600 were issued. Most examples on the market are 1891 official electrotype reprints without the usual 'Reprint' overprint. Ex Hugh Freeman -
sold at our auction of 23.9.2011 for $2560 (Sale 168 Lot 713) - and 'Dubois' (Part IV), sold for SFr1220. RPSV Certificate (2011).

1884-1900 Ultra High Values Recess Wmk '33' £50 dull lilac-mauve SG 284 with large script 'Specimen' Handstamp Type 13 applied
diagonally reading upwards, exceptional centring, some surface disturbance & no gum. Rare. Chris Cermuga Certificate (2011) states "...currently only three examples of this type". This is the stamp illustrated by Kellow Turner & McCredie at page 39.
In spite of these authorities, our assessment is that the stamp is the lithographed £50 SG 287. Ex Bill McCredie: sold in 2011 for $1220.
