2½d indigo Die II Plate 2 (lower) with Missing '1' in Fraction [Pos 2L33] ACSC 11b(2)j (SG O44a), a couple of slightly uneven
perfs, Sydney 1920 machine cancel clear of the variety, Cat $37,500 in footnote 5 (£38,000). Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2014). Ex 'Lionhart': sold at our auction of 2.5.2014 for $15,525 (Sale 189 Lot 13).
A very fine example of this iconic rarity. The ACSC states that it "was caused by a temporary ink clog flaw which was quickly corrected ... Three mint and twelve used examples (three punctured OS ...) are presently recorded. One used example is in
the Royal Collection". Hugh Morgan's better centred 'OS' example - short perfs at the base - sold in November 2012 for £13,000 (= $A21,500 at the time). Stuart Hardy's similarly centred example - without 'OS' perfin - sold in May 2013 for $53,590. (Image1) (Image2)

2/- maroon SG O77 Double Print ACSC 38c being the left-hand & central units in a horizontal strip of 3, two light but legible
large-part 'CROXTON/30MR31/[VIC]' cds cancels, Cat $8100+ for two variety singles and a normal used single. The ACSC states (footnote 3) that "A number of used examples, all punctured OS, are known. These include a block of 6 (now divided) cancelled
Croxton (Vic)". This strip and Arthur Gray's pair - sold for $US2100 - presumably both stem from the block of 6 mentioned. The doubling on this multiple is far more obvious than on Arthur Gray's pair, being most evident on the value tablet '2/-' and
the additional frame line at left on the central unit. PCNZA Certificate (2025). (Image1) (Image2)
