OFFICIAL STAMPS - 1911-12 Monocolours Punctured 'OS' continued...
LotNo. Symbol Lot Description Estimate in AU$'s
1353 nh image2½d bright blue as SG O41 but on Thin Paper block of 4, unmounted, minor toning mostly on the perf tips at left, the upper-right unit very fine. With a Thick Paper 2½d ultramarine for comparison. [Rosenblum states at p29 regarding printings on Thin Paper that "A very few sheets of this stamp were issued, O.S. only, about 1918 ... They are unknown without the OS puncture and even in that condition are extremely rare" (our emphasis) and that the Thin Paper being whiter resulted in "greater clarity of the inks" which produced distinctive shades]

1358 og image2½d myrtle & ultramarine SG 97 unlisted by Gibbons with 'OS' puncture, tiny paper inclusion at upper-right, very fresh gum with two small hinge remainders. Ex Roger Lee. The Gibbons listings are presumably based on Croaker who did not include this value in his punctured 'OS' list. The Colonel Harrie Evans example - with irregular perfs and offered 'as is' - sold at our auction of 6.10.2001 for $187. We have no reason to doubt their genuineness, but must offer this 'as is'.
