189 og image1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 4d deep dull blue SG 3b, margins close to good, ironed-out vertical crease at left, large-part o.g., Cat £2750. Rare. [This is one of those stamps that is very difficult to identify. More important than the shade is the quality of the printing whereby the Swan is poorly defined against the background. This was the first printing so should be listed as SG 3, not 3b. Genuine examples are scarcer than the more popular "slate blue" and should be worth significantly more]

191 # image1857-59 Hillman Lithographs Imperf 6d grey-black SG 19, close even margins, unused, Cat £14,000. RPSofL Certificate (2021) refers to "small surface abrasion top left" which is actually a natural paper inclusion, and "small [scissor] cut bottom right" neither of which detracts from the very fine facial appearance of this rare stamp. [Lord Vestey had two examples 1) slightly larger than this with "some horizontal creasing", that sold for £5400; and 2) a similar example to the current stamp, that sold for £4200]

194 # image1861 Printed by Perkins Bacon Intermediate Perf 14-16 1/- green SG 37, unused, Cat £2000. An underrated stamp, that was absent from Cecil Walkley's collection, and of which Lord Vestey had only one example - sold for £1440 - instead of his customary three or four. [Gibbons describe the shade as "yellow-green", which is misleading]

197 og image1864-79 Crown/CC Perf 12½ 4d carmine spectacular Double Print affecting the Upper 80% of the Stamp SG 56a, some characteristic rough perfs, part-original gum, Cat £30,000. Ex Lord Vestey: sold for £14,400. BPA Certificate (2007). A marvellous example of this spectacular error. [One of the most important stamp errors of Western Australia: nine examples, all unused, are recorded in private hands, of which two are defective. The almost identical Alfred Caspary/Cecil Walkey example - without gum - sold at our auction of 14.4.2005 for $58,250 which makes our estimate look very conservative]
