Phoenix Auctions Sale - 108

Worldwide Public Auction - March 24, 2025

Welcome to Phoenix Auctions #108, being held on Monday 24th March, starting at 10am. This our 4th auction for 2025. Auction 108 is a public auction and will be held in our Boardroom. We hope you find its wide range of lots useful and interesting.

Session 1 commences at 10.00am (lots (lots 5001-5356) Monday morning with Australian Commonwealth and Australian States to Tasmania.
Session 2 will commence no earlier than 1pm (lots 5357-6002) Monday afternoon with Victoria, WA, Territories and Rest of World.

The Australian section has a good range of better Roos, there are many variety lots with a good range of KGV Cracked Clichés and a useful group of 1d KGV shades. There is a handy small range of War Savings Booklets (lot 5252-5259) and South Australia offers a nice range, with 3 rare Imperf Long Tom blocks (lots 5327, 5329, 5330). Gippsland (Victoria) collectors will be pleased with the separate selection of Postal History and Postmarks (lots 5411-5441) Rest of World collectors are always well catered for.

There are nearly 500 lots in the non-Australia & Territories part of the auction. The section starts with 3 extremely enticing World Collections (lots 5514-5516). There is a fine selection of Foreign & British Commonwealth, including better single items, with many pre-1970 mint & used sets. With a wide range of countries and many lots of varieties, Postal History, Stationery, etc, there is plenty to choose from. There is a larger than normal selection of China and Tibet (lots 5568-5608). Rhodesia & South West Africa are also well catered for. Finally there is an excellent group of Cape of Good Hope forgeries (lots 5937-40,5942).

Notes:

  • The buyer's commission is just 20.9%.
  • Viewing for this auction will be conducted at our offices: Suite 2, Level 1, 441 Canterbury Road Surrey Hills Victoria from 10am-4pm from Sunday 16th March to Sunday 23rd March (there is no viewing on Saturdays), limited viewing is available on auction days. Other times can be arranged by appointment.
  • Auction 108 is a public auction and will be live on the net via our own auction systems. Just login as usual and then open the Live Bidding window, the link is active from 20 minutes before the start of the auction. Live Bidding gives you the ability to bid on each lot just as if you were in the room. We also have phone bidding available.
