"JIPIJAPA (1873)” on cover to Lima, French "3154” QUITO on loose stamps, a delightful selection of bisected on pieces incl. a 4 reales, some scarce mail with 4 reales tied by cds. "GUAYAQUIL 12 SEP 67” to lettersheet to Lima, together with some prephilatelic entires with blue oval "GUAYAQUIL DEBE”, red oval "QUITO FRANCA” on 1863 lettersheet to Paris via Panama and England, also some postal stationeries, etc. Some occasional faults, mostly fine to very fine, some signed Richter, Bühler, Köhler, Pfenninger. 1883 (June 22), two-page manuscript letter, signed "John Kapina, Minister of Finance”, on Department of Finance letterhead, to His Excellency Paul Kanoa, Governor of Kanai, regarding taxation issues, with further notation at bottom signed F.S. [Franklin Seaver] Pratt, then serving as Registrar of Public Accounts, apparently an English translation of an attached two-page manuscript letter, this in Hawaiian, also signed John Kapina and F.S. Pratt, a third letter, also in Hawaiian and on Department of Finance letterhead and signed Kapina, typical folds, but a scarce group. Note: Kapina was serving at the time as Minister of Finance of Hawaii, having previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and as Governor of Maui
1883 (May 18), manuscript receipt, datelined Honolulu, regarding payment of rent of $300, signed on behalf of H.H. R. Keelikolani [Princess Luka Ruth Ke'elikolani], one of the largest landowners in Hawaii, and long-time Governor of the Island of Hawaii, filing folds and tear through part of message, a scarce letter, dated only days before Princess Keelikolani’s death.
1886 (Oct 7), manuscript letter, signed "D.A. McKinley”, on Consul-General letterhead, datelined San Francisco, to Santa Cruz, regarding "mail for the young Princess David,” noting that it was to be sent "by the Australia, which sails for Honolulu on the 11th,” filing folds, a scarce letter from David Allison McKinley, Consul-General of Hawaii and brother of President William McKinley.
1886 (August 26), manuscript letter in Hawaiian, datelined San Mateo and signed "Poomaikelani” [Princess Virginia Kapo?oloku Po?omaikelani], file folds, with some loss primarily along centre fold and slight separation at bottom, a scarce letter from a member of the Hawaiian Royal Family, and sister of Queen Kapi?olani.
1857 (July), manuscript letter, datelined Keena, Kiaaina (Kaena Point), written to Kamehameha [King Kamehameha IV], submitting a list of names as requested, signed Paul Kanoa, then serving as Royal Governor of Kaua?i, file folds and some light toning in places, else a scarce letter of historic interest.
