an extraordinary range of material given to us at the last moment, virtually all housed in expensive albums well filled, with strong emphasis , in German area and plenty of Worldwide too, very diverse. There are over 100 albums many of which are clearly worth several hundreds dollars each or more in their own right, with must-sell instruction, dealers make sure this is on your list to view, at $100 a per, this is a no brainer, Fine-Very Fine.
failing eyesight has unfortunately caused this local stamp den to be vacated, we were asked to collect this, everything has been bundled into boxes and the room cleared, very diverse and ,work intensive, plenty of collections, stocks, postal history, old auction purchases etc, all ,to ,be sold as one lot, an opportunity for a worldwide collector or dealer looking for a project needing a plan and lots of time, ,huge potential here, must be viewed with time, mixed condition as always in large lots, Fine-Very.
A large well filled old fashioned manila stockbook given to us with the instruction to sell as ,one lot. We do this at the very last available moment and we owe our thanks to our printers for putting this great lot in the May catalogue. Formed in the 1920s and 1930s, housed in a book with 11 lines per page, with over 50 pages, a methodical &lsquo,A-Z&rsquo, reference holding beginning with the US, as collected in the old days when reference copies were more available. This was from a then dealer who had bought many large worldwide collections over the decades and had systematically stripped collections and mixed lots for material that he considered as reference. This also includes repaired or altered classics. There is no modern material here and virtually all is 19th century. It starts off with a good showing of US, including 2 examples of the first 90 cents Washington blue definitive, interesting locals, an important range of &lsquo, newspapers and periodicals&rsquo, , and back of the book etc, followed by Antigua thru to Zululand with strong colonies in general from the various European countries, just a very exciting lot to study. Please note often the presentation is &lsquo, stamp on stamp&rsquo,, often making viewing difficult if not impossible without tongs. Nothing at all is in excess duplication and there is plenty of good discoveries likely, including no doubt 19th century material that is scarcer as reference than original, as well as some excellent space-fillers of rarities from countries across the board. The family has asked us to put a valuation on this, this is not an easy task given the presentation. However, there must be well over 4000 examples here (ie about 100 per page) with some that would make good individual items in their own right. At a $1.50 to ,$3 across the board, this should present a huge potential for dealers in this increasingly popular area today. This was held back by the family for two generations thinking it was not particularly important! Please note that this book could be worth multiples of our estimate, if you spend time studying it carefully.
Just a small box, basically full of many dozens of potential individual photograph items chaotically presented, given to us by a regular consignor who is not prepared to work on it, as he has no time &ndash, we know the feeling! , This has to be viewed to be appreciated, it is very interesting. Auctioneers looking for this kind of worldwide scarce and better material, especially classics through to the 1950s, would be well advised to put this on their list of lots to view. Highly recommended, as this consignor&rsquo,s material often hammers for much more than the range we give.
