237 P J1P4-J7P4, J22P4-J28P4 image#J1P4-J7P4, J22P4-J28P4, 1c-50c Brown and 1c-50c Bright claret, plate proofs on card, two complete sets of the first issue Brown and one set of the 1891 Bright claret, all with well clear to large margins, crisp and with bright fresh colors, what is most interesting is that each set has a different original post office envelope, one reads "United States Postage Stamps/issue.1878/Postage Due" (postage due stamps were not even authorized by Congress until March of 1879), the second is in a smaller format reading "United States/Postage-Due Stamps/1879/Proof Specimens," the last is similar to the first without date, such envelopes are rarely encountered any more and to have three different for the first design dues is most unusual, very fine-extremely fine.
