1839 (January 15th) Unpaid folded entire sent from Kilcock to Summerhill, Dublin and rated "5", on arrival the letter was put into the Dublin Penny Post and endorsed "Redirected at" with italic 2-line "Drumcondra / Penny Post", and endorsed "Mr. Richmond Ballack", plus a black circular "DUBLIN 1' PENNY POST" hs alongside, very fine and scarce. 1841 (February 12th) Folded lettersheet sent from Dublin to London showing an oval black "IMPERIAL HOTEL / POST PAID / DUBLIN" (DF No.96B) and franked 1d black plate 7, good even margins, tied by a Maltese Cross, an attractive usage of the Hotel Post Paid mkg. . One of the earliest Hotel handstamps recorded for Ireland. . Note: The Post Office made concessions to hotels, issuing them with their own Paid handstamps. Hotels provided residents with a service whereby they prepaid postage on their mail and the hotel applied the designated distinctive Post Paid hanstamp.(Image 1) (Image 2)

1855 (December 19th) Envelope from Wexford to Madison, Indiana, USA, franked GB 2d blue and 4d carmine with highly glazed paper, tied by an English type Spoon "WEXFORD / DE 19 / 1855 / 448" ds in blue, with Boston "Br PACKET / 11 / JAN / 24 / BOSTON" ds, the stamps were ignored and the full charge of 24 cents to be collected, applied. A normal Treaty rate letter that was prepaid the unusual amount of 6d, attractive and colourful transatlantic usage.(Image 1) (Image 2)
