10347 imageTypographed from Woodblocks by Samuel Calvert 1854/55: Woodblock 6 d. dull orange, a used example with variety "Private Pin Perforation 10" clearly seen at vertical sides, the horizontal apparently scissor cut, tied to 1856 cover to London endorsed "pr. Earl of Sefton". The adhesive, utilised some 18 months prior to Calvert's Official experiments in perforation, is tied by barred numeral "1" of Melbourne. RPSV (2015).rnNote: The wide pin-perf / roulette 10 would have been too wide for easy separation and would have damaged the stamps, it is apparent that scissors have been used at top and at base.rnProvenance: Collection Rod Perry, DG, Zurich, 16-21 Nov 1987, lot 20292; Collection Roland Geitenbeek, Phoenix, Melbourne, 25 Oct 2014, lot 68.
