The letter was probably originally landed at Santander or Bilbao and carried overland to Bayonne (rate 10 sols / 5 dêcimes) for transfer to the French postal system to Bordeaux (rate 7 dêcimes). Carried via the Cape and carried on the "Deux Nanettes" with fair COLONIES PAR BORDEAUX in black. The entire reports on the devastating fire that struck Port Louis on the night of Sepotember 26, 1816 and besides the fascinating content shows a superb strike of this rare Port Louis marking.
