 1898 (6 Dec) French Corps d'Occupation de Kouang Techou Wan cover to France, frankless, applied with extremely scarce Poste de Nan-Chau bilingual seal in blue, alongside with "CORPS EXPEDRE / TOKIN" h.s. Transit Haiphong (6
Dec). Early covers dated 1898 are rarer than the later examples and the Nan Chau is one of the desirable postmark. Desrousseaux stated the earliest record of Nan Chau post was 1901.
1898.12.6 廣州灣佔領軍封寄法國，無貼票，鈐極珍罕之Nan
Chau郵局藍色圓戳，旁鈐東京遠征軍手填日期戳。12.6經海防。1898年之早期信封比後來的郵例難得得多，而Nan Chau亦為稀罕之郵局之一。Desrousseaux記錄之最早Nan Chau例子為1901年。(Image 1)
