The outstanding website The Philippine Philatelist (http://www.philippinephilatelist.net ) contains a copy of the definitive 5-frame exhibit of the Lambert Imperforates. The exhibit states that one pane of 100 subjects of each denomination was handstamped with "Specimen" in red capital letters. The pane of the 2c Rizal Issue was severely damaged and as a result only 25 complete sets are possible. These imperforate "Specimen" overprints are unique to the Lamberts and are therefore an excellent reference for distinguishing the color differences between the Lamberts and the more common 1931 Issues (Image)

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A SPECTACULAR MINT NEVER-HINGED COMPLETE SET OF THE 1925 PHILIPPINES LAMBERT SALES CO. IMPERFORATES. THE 10-PESO PLATE NUMBER SINGLE IS ONE OF ONLY FOUR THAT CAN EXIST.

In 1925, the Lambert Sales Company was denied permission by the Philippine Bureau of Post (BPO) to use perfins on Regular Issue stamps. As an alternative, they were allowed to order imperforate sheets, which they used on their packages of embroidered goods sent from the Philippines to New York from June 22 to October 26, 1925. By the time collectors became fully aware of these imperforates, most had already been used. The BPO responded to collector pressure by issuing two more sets of imperforates in 1931, which differ in material ways from the 1925 Lamberts and can be distinguished by shade, paper and gum.

The outstanding website The Philippine Philatelist (http://www.philippinephilatelist.net ) contains a copy of the definitive 5-frame exhibit of the Lambert Imperforates. The exhibit reports that only 24 unused copies of the 10p are known. It was printed in sheets of 200 and then divided into two panes of 100, with plate nos. at top and bottom. Only two panes were delivered to Lambert, so a maximum of four plate number singles can exist. With only 24 unused stamps recorded, it is probable that much fewer than four unused plate singles actually exist today (Image)

VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL SET OF THE 2-CENT THROUGH 30-CENT 1925 PHILIPPINES LAMBERT SALES CO. IMPERFORATES IN PLATE BLOCKS OF 12.

In 1925, the Lambert Sales Company was denied permission by the Philippine Bureau of Post (BPO) to use perfins on Regular Issue stamps. The others can be distinguished by shade, paper and gum.

The Lambert Imperforates were used from June 22 to October 26, 1925, to mail packages of embroidery goods from the company's operations in the Philippines to New York. Two-package pairings were delivered to the post office with a primary label on the first package containing most or all of the postage. The second package contained a secondary label which typically had no postage or a small amount of postage. In the case of this two-package pair, the secondary label would have contained the additional 2p-68c postage.

This label is believed to be the earliest surviving First Day cover of the 1925 Lambert Issue. The certificate of origin no. 1881-3 at left indicates this was the third package prepared on June 22. Nos. 1881-1 and 1881-2 are believed to have been destroyed or are only partial labels. Any June 22 First Day cover is rare, with only nine primary labels recorded in total (Image)
